Batch torrents

hello ^^
i just wanted to ask people a thing about the batch torrent : now i want to dl the torrent of Scrapped princess 1-24
but i already have eps 1 - 15...
so i'd like to know if there is any bittorrent program that allows to "select " episodes we want to dl, without dl all the files.
i only use bittorrent, so i don't know anything about the others programs (azureus...).

No, it's easy. Just download the 1-24 batch to another location on your HD.

But as soon as BitTorrent has finished "allocating", stop the download.

Then replace the files on the HD that you already have with the real ones.

Then resume -- BitTorrent will check the files again, notice that files 1-15 are
already complete, and starts downloading the rest...

Mixing groups won't work on the batch trick, indeed.

You can use a client who supports to download only certain files, like Azureus.

go through that link..and it should help solve your problem (most likely all you need to do is read the 2nd post...)

ABC doesn't allow you to select episodes from a batch...as far as i know it's only Azurues that lets you pick and choose the eps (also explains how to do that in the thread)

Hope that one thread helps you out

*raises hand* Can I ask... how? ^^;

I've looked around on the help files, and I've selected "Do Not Download" for various files in one particular batch, and... it still winds up downloading parts of them. What the heck am I doing wrong here? O_o

Infinity - For me Azurues does the same thing...After i choose not to d/l the certain eps it still goes and d/l's some bits and peices...but it does stop d/l after a little while...

I guess it was just trying to finish the peices of the file it started before choosing not to d/l them?

It actually will start downloading new pieces off & on over the course of the download. Oo; I can set the priority higher for the specific files I'm attempting to get, and they'll usually be the ones downloaded for the majority of the time, but the "Do Not Download" option still doesn't seem to be making that much of a difference. It's somewhat annoying, given my limited disc space.

I got a question. I would like to know if it's possible to watch an episode of a batch download that has not finished downloading.

I hope someone understand my question, because my englsih s**ks!

Sometimes it's frustrating to downlaod the whole thing and to notice that you don't like the anime afterwards. A got this problem once. I was willing to download Popotan because of the good reviews i've heard about it. The only torrents that where left were the batch, so i download it, and oh god i was disapointed! If only i gotten the chance to watch the first episode of the batch download before finishing the downlaod it will have saved me space and the time of the download.

With most clients it's very unlikely. Bittorrent downloads the files in pieces in (mostly) random order, so until the whole batch is finished there's no guarantee that any episode is finished.

Note that some clients (Azureus for one) allow you to set the priority of individual files within a torrent, so you can set episode 1 to high, and it'll try to complete that episode as soon as possible. Just watch the "Files" tab in the detailed download stats and wait till the file you want has finished.

I would like to point out that latest BitTornado 0.3.1 (formerly known as SHAD0W's Experimental) also allows selective downloading of files in a batch torrent though where to do this is less obvious compared to others.

Simply go to "Details" and right click the on one of the files listed. You will get the option to set the file's download priority ranging from "download first" to "download never".

As others have said, BitTorrent does not download files linearly like IRC for example. Therefore, you usually will not be able to use a file until it has fully finished downloading.
