Finally got around to seeing ep 3....

And while the series is certainly entertaining and cute and fluffy sometimes, it does touch on some serious subject matter - though lightly thus far and in passing - and the charas are continuing to be likeable as previously. ^^

All in all so far for me it has been just the sort of formula material that I associate with KyoAni and that I enjoy and that I was expecting to see. It is nice to meet it again.

I'm not implying that. I'm just stating the amount of work they put into their passion, not because of it. Like how a proffessional dancer would practice alot to be a better dancer, regardless of the reason. Probably I didn't stated it clearly, but it's quite close to what you just said.

It was cute seeing Rikka getting jealous. Still hoping to see some character growth on Rikka's part as she at least tries to have some semblance of a normal 17 year old girl and realize that chunnibyou is for fun, not a lifestyle. Even people who have a ton of passion for things like dancing would know there's a time and place for practicing and a time to be a regular person. I don't think Rikka realizes that.... and it doesn't help that Yuuta enables her quite a bit.

I think Rikka is too innocent for that kind of sexual innuendo. And Yuuta is more emotionally attached to her, rather than the physical side of things.

Let's see how things goes.

Great stuff, now they don't have even a crappy novel (of which they secured the right/ripping them from the writer) to guide their atrocious writing. But they can thank Mahou Sensou for being even worse than this.

This episode was so much fun but during the action scene, something broke and all I could think of was..WHY THE F*** WASN'T KYOUKAI THIS GOOD?!!! WHY?!!! It's incredibly over the top with it's ridiculousness but still, could you imagine? A show that not only had magic battles as good or better than the ones in this episode but also a well written and directed story? Like this wasin all seriousness..like this was a real battle for some random but important apocalypse-causing/ending/preventing macguffin.

Getting back to the episode itself, towards the end I kind of wished Yuta kissed her Rikka. OTOH that's probably going to happen at the end.

The thought occurred to me as well. The big action scene in this episode was probably better than any action scene in Kyoukai no Kanata. And that's kinda sad when you consider that...

1) Both anime shows are made by the same animation studio.

2) The action scenes in this show are almost totally non-serious. Unlike Kyoukai, where it's all real.

So KyoAni is seemingly better at fake action scenes than real ones. I honestly don't know what to say to that...

Satone's such an amazing addition to the cast. She's much more G than Rikka, which saddens me greatly.

It IS sad. Heck, I'd go as far as saying that even the small snippets of chu2byo fighting in the OP sequence are better than some of the fights in KnK. Geez. That thought actually makes me sorta depressed.

Rikka is a size queen. Accepted into head canon.

Well, to raise this post out from the gutter a little , I have to say that the new character is every bit as charming and intriguing as I was hoping she might be. I'm looking forward to her future role in the series and hope that this isn't the last we'll see of jealous Rikka.

But yeah, KyoAni is simply perfect when it comes to exaggerated fantasy.
Kyoukai no Kanata shows how they struggle when it comes to more realistic combat scenes.

Great comedy this episode, I died at them pulling out the wig and Yuuta's reacting, and then Shinka's initial face when she saw Yuuta wearing that. Shinka lapsing talking about magic was great too.

And Shichimiya seems like an interest addition to the cast, though I wonder if she really approves of Yuuta and Rikka so easily with that whole nose rub being done.

I reminded of the phrases in nisemonogatari that about the fake being more real than the real because the fake has tries to be real, like the chuunis wanting their fantasy, action, and fights to be real thus are better than Kyoani's real action series.

Great episode once again

First we see that both are lusting for each other. Yuuta dreams of a naked Rikka in his bed, and Rikka wants to awaken his Dark Flame Pen*s
The impossible happens and Rikka has better marks than Dark Flame Master, so he has to dress up as a magical girl, completely with wig XD

Satone is also very funny, her fight with Rikka was hilarious. She's a great addition to the group. I wouldn't be surprised if she switches schools to Yuutas school be closer to him...

Anyway, encouraged by the competition they got closer and... rub noses
I hope that their pace will speed up now, with Satone's help.
