Great episode. Unlike the last one, it didn't feel slow at all.

I loved the bit where Michitaka hit the table and created this huge fissure. Even if it was partially an act, don't piss off the level 90 monk. He can LITERALLY make your head explode.

Got to wonder how many of the nobles there soiled themselves when Michitaka used the super effective Table Pound.

Can't wait for the large scale combat. Events shown in the OP are finally happening.

yes.... the council is so bad and arrogant...
I love how Michitaka finally raged up and killed the mood

I don't know how Raynesia managed to know the best timing ever to come in
Her idea is also something to be appreciated
She's the best imouto/princess ever... a lazy yet moe princess

I really want to see her reaction about gryphon
Anyway, I just know that Crusty had Griffon
I thought only Tea Party managed to finish the quest

somehow, Minori's party scene is little boring
dragging agro little by little, eh? bringing back memories

I'm getting rather curious about these Knights of Izumo. The last couple of episode have mentioned their names quite a bit and Shiroe says they're more powerful than the adventures. The mysteries of why they're missing is very interesting to me.

I'm given to understand that information is only available in a sidestory at the moment, so it may never show up in the anime at all.

Specifics on the Knights of Izumo (or rather, what happened to them) are indeed sidestory material, so yes, people curious about them will have to pay a visit to the novel thread.

Michitaka is playing the bad cop and Crusty is the good cop. By acting hostile towards the Eastel lords and opposing the idea of sending troops, he puts them on the defensive. This makes it easier for the good cop to gain their trust and cooperation.

These diplomatic matters are interesting and all, but I hope we get to see some action soon.

Loved mitchitaka's mimic of the glasses push crusty and shiroe are so fond of. Did that happen in the novels too?

Personally the unfolding of events so far has been well done imo and the lack of action is fine with me. So many past instances of action > story from other shows not being well balanced doesn't really make for good investment into what a story can offer.

I think Reynessia going to personally recruit Akiba adventurers is a clever thing.

Sure, if the Round Table pledged support, Krusty could mobilise DDD, Isaac could get the Black Knights in... but you know how MMO gamers are, it's like herding cats. Even I occasionally have problems giving and following orders.

But by going and making her case, Reynessia has that personal touch, and there's a greater sense of buy-in. This also explains that shot of her in the OP, looking like something outta Valkyrie Profile, and a whole bunch of people energetically waving swords.

Neat. Quite like this episode. And of course, the whole raiding and ambushing. The light novel translation managed to make that feel boring, lol.

I loved this episode the kids seem to be holding up alright and the politics.
And the nobles displaying a nice mixture of aristocratic stupidity and desperation in there attempt of tricking the adventurers into doing the dirty work.

The nobles could be bewildered why the goblins are invading in strength. Back when Elder Tales was a game, the goblin invasion was a popular player event. This would mean, from the nobles' point of view, the adventurers had always been taking care of the goblins before. So why are the adventurers so coy and hesitant now? If the adventurers do it for free, there's no need to pay them. The nobles are aware that the price would likely be very high, should the adventurers become aware the Izumo Knights are not around and they have a monopoly to set any price they wish. That is the situation the nobles wants to avoid, if at all possible.

The nobles aren't stupid. They actually put alot of thought into their predicament. They do not wish to jump out of the oil (get rid of goblins) and into the fire (become held to ransom by the adventurers).

i doubt it was for free, there was always a hook in the game to start a quest and that means the nobles had come up with some sort of reward. Even if it is nothing more then a old blue box

Knowing MMO, I bet some of the quests were mostly EXP reward.
Which, from Lander POV, may have looked like nearly free.

The logic is still suspect, however, in that 'Simply because you were nice before, you are OBLIGATED TO DO SO AGAIN' is pretty bad thinking, and kind of morally bankrupt.

Also, it's pretty obvious in the anime that the point wasn't that they didn't want to owe the adventurers anything as much as they wanted to control them. Pride and fear of costs was an element, but not the only one.

Remember that, from the Landers point of view, Adventurers have been doing this kind of thing for 240 years. There have been entire generations growing up knowing Adventurers are keeping the lands safe. To them it's not "people doing nice things", it's a daily constant. And now that constant is changing. So they get terrified, and try to restore what they consider is just normal every day life.

When Kiliva went the "you have been gifted mortality by the gods, it's your duty to keep the lands safe", that wasn't just him trying to guilt trip the Adventurers, that's how many Landers genuinely see Adventurers: Saviors from the heavens tasked with keeping the world safe.

not blackmail, guilt trip.
