I actually have not yet played the EX routes. I'm not fluent enough to play them. I can hear it by ear mostly, but I would only get a fraction of the story. I know of pieces of it without spoiling myself.

I had to wonder if Masato saw Saya on the roof when she had the gun pointed at Riki. I wonder why doesn't he ask her about the gun? Aren't firearms pretty much illegal in Japan, let alone handguns? I can tell pieces are missing that made the flow of the story move faster. I would love to play this first. I have the game but never tried a translator on the side. Maybe I should try.

Saya is pretty complex I don't know what to think of her. She is all scary then happy, scary then happy and then scary again. I get Mai vibes from her route completely. A sort of nice throwback.

I actually finished Saya's route last night, so I'm just in time. Used a machine translator to get through it. All in all, not as bad an experience as I was prepared for.

As for this episode, seems like it's off to a pretty great start so far! Hasn't really missed any important details, covered just about everything up to discovering the tunnel. Animation was good. This route is definitely a different flavour from all the others, which is immediately recognisable as soon as you see guns

Interested to see how they adapt the remaining story.

Decent start. Saya seems like the entertaining type of character. Obviously she isn't really from some intelligence agency. And naturally, Kyousuke knows more than he's letting on. I've heard good things about the ending (Apparently Jun Maeda had balls while he was writing this), so I look forward to the rest.

It definitely is different to all other arcs, pretty interested. Too bad that Kanata's route seems to be the last one but this looks fun so far

Ex has hit the ground running, and in an excellent way.

I am getting quite alot of Angel Beats vibe however, with Saya's arc. I suspect that Maeda decided that Saya's story was such a brilliant and well received idea, that the underlying themes (guns, resistance, etc) behind it could be used to create his next series, which was Angel Beats.

As we all know, going out at night alone is the best place to turn up as a first minute causality.

Dude, you need me! Can't just go out by yourself
I'm the main character. I'll be fine!
That doesn't protect you from surprise buttsecks though!
That's crazy talk, Masato, what do you think...

We can do this the hard way, or the extra hilarious way.
I just wanted my notebook!

What the fuck did they do to Riki?

So naturally Riki decides that after being accosted by a random assailant, the most logical thing to do is to run the fuck away and maybe call friends, cops, for help. Oh wait, no Notebook-kun! It needs to be saved! Oh Little Busters, making comedy when there should be tension since 2005(?)

So, he finds an ID, and hands it back cuz, I don't know. That's what you do when you almost get mugged. And what do we know; the Terminator's after him again.

Uhh... I know you. We've met before. You're that girl from Angel Beats, right?

What the fuck! I'm just trying to kill you here; but you're associating me with Angel Beats! That's low man. I'm busting a cap in your head right now!

But Riki was saved due to main charactererness and the power of friendship, and Saya here insists on increasingly more exotic styles of death for Riki. Why? Because it's fun I guess.

Riki, you guys have worked with Key over the past few years. They even made an 18+ version of Little Busters. This is obvious.

You will need a lot more hemp before you're through.

So apparently, Saya decides to stop killing him, and naturally they go on some kind of suicide missions against the Executives of Darkness. (The RIAA, MPAA?)

I always thought Kyousuke being the cat was going to be the silliest. I guess not!

To be continued.... And will Saya ever take off her serious face? Actually that might not be a good thing either.

That was pretty entertaining (and the new OP in particular was great), but I have to admit I find it a bit unsettling that Saya seriously attempted to kill Riki three times. It's pretty clear that she wasn't bluffing and that these were serious attempts on his life.

Trying to kill a completely innocent teenager because he saw you shooting strange things in school at night? Or because that could imperil your "treasure hunt"? While Saya is entertaining, this doesn't exactly endear her to me.

It's funny how in one episode Saya has arguably become the most morally questionable/dubious named character in the entire show. Say what you will about the bullies trying to get revenge on Kurugaya, but I don't recall them ever trying to kill her.

As for Riki... Dude, do you not care about your life at all? If I was him, I would have totally ratted out Saya to Masato, and asked for him and/or Kengo to protect me 24/7 until this criminal could (hopefully) be brought to justice.

Saya seems to be Yurripe Prototype. Infact, it feels like the whole arc is an Angel Beats prototype, proof of concept story hitching a ride on the Little Busters fanbase as guinea pigs.

Well the Joke is that LB came first, and the same VA and stuff.

And yea, Triple, Saya's borderline sociopathic behavior and Riki's suicidal behavior does put in a damper into the story beyond it being entertaining.

And yes, Angel Beats wasn't particularly original. Silly Maeda.

Man, Saya already turned out to be my new favorite girl, and it's only been 1 episode.

The Angel Beats is strong in this one. However, I'm going to need some tragic backstory in order to fulfill the parallel.

Well, this is Maeda we're talking about. Tragic backstories are his game.

So...guys, since we already know by this time what the secret of the world is, I think it's better off asking these questions:

I see where you are coming from, though it be perfectly honest, this was made first.

They said the "EX" for anime doesn't mean Esctasy though.
