Is that one of the Japanese ones? By SHARP or so? If so, I guess it isn't here anymore, but I do think someone mentioned that you can't use MP3s as ringtones - only ringtone files.

In this thread one person mentioned that you can only use "secured" MP3s that are downloaded from the company's pay service. That'd make sense, since phone companies want us to buy their ringtones, and by letting us use any MP3 - well, we can make anything. One person mentioned that you just need the MP3 to be at 128 kbps (constant, not VBR, I'd imagine) for them to work. It's worth a try. If you want help converting audio files, either message me or reply back to this thread and I'll guide you through it.

I posted extensively about this issue before the forums were rebooted with links from howardforums about how its problematic using mp3s as ringtones, esp in the japanese version of the 902SH, as well as the UK version. Guess you never read them.

I'm too poor to afford one. If I were to get one, I would want some features on it that are actually useful.

I have two phones, one for personal contacts, and the other for work/acquaintances.

Samsung SCH-A970 for personal, the slightly older Samsung SGH-D500 for other.

that screen is small. my friend has one too. its ok...the picture on the 902sh is better though although both says 2.0 megapixels. course. megapixels dont really do anything to the picture quality, just makes it bigger. but u know what....ur damn phone can play mp3 ring tones damnit!!

Anything I buy these days is primarily based on what I think looks hot at the time of purchase. I don’t consider anything else for the most part. If a new phone happens to come out that I like I’ll buy that as well. A bit like clothes, only in longer durations.

Those things are evil lol
Read Stephen King's Cell novel--very interesting.

By seriously, My family (not including myself) are with Sprint and have Motorola phones and they've had no problems with them at all. So with that many people having that particular phone and company and nothing bad to say about them, I would take that as a good sign, I guess.

Sprint doesn't make their own phones - virtually all phones are unlockable. However, it's easier for some companies than for others. Samsung used to have a single code per model line; Nokia had keygens. Motorola is essentially impossible to do without some higher-end equipment, and as a result dozens of services cropped up. Pay them and they unlock your phone for you.

If you're with a GSM carrier (Sprint and Verizon are CDMA) you can also just import an unlocked model, which is what I did. My MPx220 is from Spain, but it doesn't make a difference. I just have some additional Spanish network services on my phone instead of Cingular's, and my phone is unbranded.

CDMA phones are also sold unlocked, but it may be harder to find and/or cost more, I wouldn't know.

As for recommending phone carriers for their service, it completely depends where you live. For a long time, Verizon was THE service to use if you were on the East Coast, and AT&T was strong on the West (I'm a Cingular Blue customer, and have no intention of switching over to Orange any time in the near future). Now it's a bit less clearly defined as the networks of both have been improved, but you get my point: your location greatly influences your service with a particular carrier. Sprint may be great wherever your family lives, Lady Yanami, but it doesn't mean that it's that way for the rest of us

I didn't say it was for every one. It was a suggestion based on what my family uses up here. Me, personally, I hate cell phones. So I don't have one. IMHO, I think cell phones should be destroyed. But that's this woman's opinion.

Don't take what I said the wrong way. I wasn't accusing you of saying that Sprint was the best, I was merely saying that if you added the geographical information with that opinion, it might actually be useful to people trying to decide what phone service to choose.

It's because there are so many ppl here who drive around and almost cause me accidents, cause they're not paying attention to the road. They're so busy talking on their cells that they put other ppls lives in danger. I even had a woman come straight at me in a one way--and she was going the wrong way. I had to veer because of that. I hate the contracts you have to sign that locks you into whatever agreement they want and I have seen ppl in my family get screwed by certain companies who wanted to change the deal once they were in it. Those are the biggest reasons that I hate cell phones.

Nokia is actually the best. The rest aren't that good. (In My Opinion). But Yah... Nokia's pwn. So I basically agree with anyone in this thread who said something about Nokia's. (something good about them xD)
