Seems GreyZone couldn't be more right about the memory loss. The chapter in which Chinjao loses the memories of his grandchildren is proof that Sugar's abilities goe beyond just forgetting the name/identity of a specified person.

Why? Because instead of saying: "I have someone who inherited my army, but I don't recall their names".

Chinjao says: "I have noone to inherit the command of my army. I wish I had grandchildren"

Not just the names, Chinjao has forgotten about everything that had his grandchildren involved in, even the day they were born. Shortly put, it's like Chinjao never once stopped being in command of his army and his son never had children.

And how to forget about Kyros? "No one knows him, nor the reason this statue mysteriously appeared."

Nah, that's exaggerating. There's Luffy who didn't forget he can do Gear 2nd (he developed it to save Robin from CP9), there's that single mother who forgot her husband but didn't forget their kid, there's Vice Admiral Bastille who remembers he has to arrest someone, but can't recall who, and there was an old man in the Colosseum who thought he recognized Ricky's fighting style, but couldn't remember the name of the fighter who used it before. For Usopp to forget everything what transpired in Water 7 and Enies Lobby would be waaaaay too much. Now, I don't expect him to whip out Sogeking's mask... There's just no reason to believe Sugar's ability to erase memory has such a wide range.

He didn't develop CP9 to save Robin. He developed it to protect all of his weaker crewmates.
But I must say that Sugar's ability is not easy to grasp... some things one would expect to disappear don't, while others that seem to have no relation to the specific person, do. As I said, I hope Oda will give a more detailed explanation here.
Also as randomlex said, the memory loss may have caused Ussopp to forget these parts of the plan that Robin told him and also how exactly ge allied himself with the "Fairies".

Chapter 740
Not a bad chapter. Poor Ussop this whole arch has not done him any justice. I wonder who will finish their executive officer first? Robin should be okay has long has the mission to get sugar taken out does not lose focus. That would suck for her if the Straw Hat had to make a tactical retreat. I can’t help but wonder if Daflamingo knows if Luffy, Soldier, and Violet are hiding right there? For guy like Daflamingo his mantra should be pretty good.

Why not just kill Sugar? Why go through the trouble?

If she's dead, devil fruit power should be gone too.

Because they are good guys. And good guys don't kill children.
No, seriously, I know it sound like a joke, but that is exactly the reason. This is a shounen manga...

It's not that easy to kill sugar... making her eat a spicy spice is much easier.

What books did these authors do that made them say these quotes? A couple of them I recognize like J.R.R. Tolkien and Lewis Carroll.

That last one was even quoted in an episode of Stargate SG-1 once. I love it.

J.R.R.Tolkien wrote a couple of little books you probably never heard of, Robin Jones Gunn writes teen romance, Brooke Foss Westcott was a famous theologian in the 1800's, Lewis Carroll wrote some obscure children's stories, Douglas Adams wrote The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Oliver Goldsmith was a famous poet in the 1700's.

the real mistake here from Oda is making Ussop look brave at the start of the Post Time Skip

I mean, wouldnt it be boring if all the strawhats are strong and courageous??

The scenario of Usopp running away and giving up, is a sign that Sogeking is about to take over.

Robin getting turned into a toy, has nothing to do with Usopp running away. Usopp was just being Usopp, when in doubt and scared.

"Nothing to do with Robin getting turned into a toy" is wrong. Can you imagine him saying "sorry Robin I will write a tale about you!"? Just imagine him thinking about how Luffy would react after what he did to get Robin back from Enies Lobby... you are severly underestimating Ussop forgetting Robin there.

I don't think that Oda made him look brave at all, especially his comment to Chopper or Nami, during the first chapters when he arrived, something along the lines of : "Sorry Chopper/Nami,I no longer belong to the weak trio".

Although it kind of contradicts the point of a time skip,he trained for 2 years with Heracles to get stronger after what happened in Sabaody and he came back, yet now he's running away....

I'm sure Oda knows what he's doing by making the readers hate Usopp. The more people dislike him the better his planned comeback as Sogeking will be.

Its only a matter of time that Ussop will join the battle. Also it's not like he would be able to do anything while Trebol is there. No matter how well he can shoot.

I know, its kinda hard to make Ussop coward again since he did trained for 2 years,
This is the one I think Oda made a huge mistake, I think it would have been better if Ussop is the only one who didnt trained for 2 years, since his sharp shooting skills is a top notch anyways... also his skills for plants are stupid...

I know Ussop's cowardness is very much likely to be hate.. but its for the sake of a great story telling, in every team there should be a character we should hate.. that every character has its own unique personality.

also its pretty obvious that Oda is building up Ussop's Dream to be a dramatic ending by making Ussop cowardly now... I have this guess that Ussop is the one who will die in the straw hats

knowing that trebol's slime/mucus/whatever it is... is combustible...

One shoot of fire/explosive to the exposed part of his body should be enough
