Flame of Recca?

Ok, i'm kinda confused about this one, I searched around alot of Viz. info and couldn't find the answer. Did Viz. really liscence the FOR anime or just the manga, on the main site and many others there is no info about the anime being released any time soon, but there are currently 4 volumes of the manga released.

Can anyone clear my confusion about whether FOR anime is really liscenced?

Well, AnimeOnDVD have it listed on their Grand High Licensing List, (and as a DVD license, not manga). Announced at Anime Central 2003 Viz pamphlet (whatever that means )

I'm not that surprised you haven't found anything on the Viz site, I don't think it's unusual for a company not to advertise it until they are 'ready'.

Flame of Recca

Are there seasons in Flame of Recca? If so, how many episodes are in each season?

Also...how many episodes are there total?

Thank you.

Flame of Recca is only 42 eps....it could've been longer but from what i heard the studio ran out of money so they cut the anime short...I hear the manga went on for a bit longer so you can always check that out

In fact, the anime only covers up to the end of Vol. 16. The manga has 33 volumes.

So you can say you're seeing only (slightly less than) half of the story if you only watch the anime.

Well...i hear that they edited the end of the anime to fit some major story plot that happenned at the very end of the manga...

so in a way you don't get to see everything...but you do at least get something from the end of the manga

[spoiler]EDITED for spoiler....
Yeah, but that's only whats happens in like the last volume. If you've only watched the anime you're missing at least half the story. Not to mention the half the anime did cover was much better in manga form.

a_nevels666: Thank you so very much for quoting Master Ran's spoiler and spoiling it for those of us who has not read the manga yet.

At least the anime (which was very nice IMHO) ended well.

Umm no... the anime's ending was too abrupt and well... sucked. Until then, the anime was doing well.

I concur. I loved the anime and everything, one of my personal faves, but the series just left way too much unsolved. I started reading the manga though, so I can finaly see what happens, but I cant find past vlume 4 at my bookstores

It's hard to spoil since the 2nd half of the manga pretty much consists of a few dozen fights. (much like the first half)

Also,
Spoiler:

You should just read it for yourself, I really recommend it.
I'd also suggest reading the part of the manga that was animated. IMO Flame of Recca was a very mediocre manga- to-anime adaptation.

Mind if i bring back an old title?? "FOR"

Well recently, i got stuck with my School assignment till i couldn't get anytime to spend with my anime, however i manage to get to read Flame Of Recca manga. (Somehow) A 4.5/5 stars, i give for its manga. How about you?

After reading the entire Flame Of Recca Manga, it turn's out to be quite a very amusing title and it makes me wonder how would the anime looks like.
For this epic adventure title "Flame Of Recca" it turns out to be equally compare with Fushigi Yuugi which quite out from my expectations. I've always thought that Fushigi Yuugi is the best anime for it's kind of genre...i mean a kind of anime with some various genre mix up together like Romance+Fighting+Adventure+Magic+a bit of mecha+and etc.

My opinion about this title would be that,
Character design are done very well, story line is just nice...well Shinobi lolz(Seldom seen one other then Naruto that i came to know), and there's other reasons why i think this is a great title.

Actually i've finish watching alot of the new series so i try looking for the older series of anime although i know it might not be that interesting compare to the newer anime but it seems that Flame Of Recca Proves me wrong, despite this old manga title i think it's a great title can is even better than Naruto i must say....

So tell me...about Flame Of Recca with your opinion.

The manga for FoR is a lot better than the anime. The anime only covers half of the manga and then has a forced ending. The anime has several nice episodes, but some episodes are rather weak. The art is more generic-looking in the anime as well.

FoR is pure Shounen stuff, Fushigi Yuugi is (more) shoujo.

If you like FoR and Naruto I'd suggest watching Hunter x Hunter.

Oh, and about older titles: 'newer is better' doesn't really apply to manga. For anime the animation techniques have advanced a lot, (Although the content isn't really any better...) but manga is technically still the same as it was 20 years ago.

Wait...FoR has magic in it? I'm gonna read it! And see the anime, once the first volume comes out.

It'd be more accurate to call them ninjutsu ( 忍術 ) or "ninja magic". They are
gained by wearing "madougu" ( 魔道具 ) or "magic tool" on the body. There are
many different "madougu" in Flame of Recca.

Many "madougu" are just weapons and have no "magic".

Recca is special; he doesn't need any "madougu" and he controls fire (hence
the name of the manga).
