Don't know if I asked (and it's probably not done)

My Japanese is quite limited aside from the names of the original generation pilots for the Macross Ace/Ultimate/Triangle Frontier PSP games in katakana, so I need help in translating their official profiles, including their personalities.

The kanji of the seiyus... I can probably take care of that unless someone doesn't mind. I know Jun Konno and Tetsu Inada from the top of my mind. IIRC, Yu Kobayashi is there.

I don't need a translation of the other parts of the article.

Hi, I'm here to ask for some help. I'm prepared to be ignored because the thing here is kinda complicated.
So I'm an artist, this is my pixiv account (NSFW): http://www.pixiv.net/member.php?id=5283913
The thing is, the other day I got a message from the Comic House director, who runs the LO magazine, Comic Tenma, etc.
I kinda can read japanese by myself, with some research for certain kanjis I can get the main context of things. But I CAN'T write a thing. I'm super bad at writing so I need help
So he offered me to work by doing a bw comic, a coloured short story or and illustration.
I think I would go for the illustration or the short story to make things quick.
I need someone willing to help me to comunicate with this man. Obviously I would try to make things simple for both of us.
So would you help a spaniard to appear in the comic tenma haha
I'll leave my email here in case someone prefers to contact me this way: troyd_str@hotmail . com
Thank you very much!!

Going over stuff from the Toshinden series, which is an old game from the 1990s. One thing that I was trying to figure out if the kanji of Toshindaibuki, the name of the tournament is this:

Quote:
闘神大武器
I'm not sure if it's correct. Can someone verify this? From the gist of this, it means "Large Fighting God Arms Tournament". But I'm not sure. Sound a mouthful.

Need some assistance in translating these Macross Triangle Frontier profiles since I'm going to do a page on the game in TV Tropes.

Hello, while I was reading a novel a difficult sentence popped up and I simply don't understand what it could possibly mean, would it be possible to explain me ? thanks.

声高にそう主張することは、どこか彼の行動自体の気高さを貶めるようにも思える。そんな風に思われたくてやった行いではないはずだ。

I understand the beginning as "He did want to think this way" but I lose everything when yatta enters, whelp please.

It's not "did want to think this way", but rather, "did not want to appear this way" => 思われ.

"This way" == どこか彼の行動自体の気高さを貶めるように

行い(おこない) is a noun here expressing a deed/action/behavior.

The previous line describes a behavior (声高にそう主張すること) that seem (思える) as (どこか彼の行動自体の気高さを貶めるよう).

The next line just says that "that should not have been what (someone) wanted to appear as when (someone) performed the action of asserting in a loud voice." It gives me the impression that the actor (the 'someone' who asserted in a loud voice) originally had a different intent than what it ended up appearing to be. And from the limited context, it feels to me that the 'someone' is the narrator or the person whose POV is currently being undertaken (and not the '彼' inside the sentence). If it's the same person, we would normally use 自分 here, as in 自分の行動自体).

Zakoo, let me give some advice to you and anyone else coming to this thread for JP->EN translations. When you have a specific passage like this that has something preceding it,

PROVIDE CONTEXT.

Japanese is notorious in being lax when it comes to including pronouns and not providing any additional information leads to translations like larethian's where the translator basically has to guess who the subject is that is performing each verb action. In simpler sentences, this can generally be inferred from the likelihood of one possibility over another but with a sentence like this you are really pushing the envelope because we can't even tell if it's dialogue or narrator text.

Luckily for you, I was able to find the source text on a Japanese site so I do happen to know the context: guy A saves girl earlier on and now guy B starts to tell her 'Well he risked his life to protect you' but then trails off. The translation therefore would be along the lines of:

To assert that (that guy A saved girl) in a loud voice could be construed as cheapening the greatness of his (guy A) actions. He (guy A) didn't do it because he wanted to be thought of as great (i.e. but rather because it was the right thing to do).

Thank you very much to you two, I kind of understand the construction of the sentence. Seems like it was the okonai that blocked me as it didn't appear in my dictionnary I was like "???" on my face.

And sorry for the lack of contect, I put the whole sentence thinking it would have been enough but it seems not, my bad.

Thanks again.
