Iraq's defensive catenaccio style play nearly withheld Spain's fluid one-touch passing game. Torres had a very hard time trying to get into the box with the ball, though Mata and Ramos did very well in trying to feed the ball in from the wings.

Good game by the Iraqi team. I'm impressed.

As I expected we lost against Egypt.

I can't even feel angry because I think half of Italy knew that this was going to happen. Will Lippi, will the whole Calcio scene realize that it's about the f*cking damn time that we need to get rid of the old players?

Gattuso has no stamina left anymore.
Zambrotta can barely run.
Toni is a freaking turtle.
And the list goes on.

I was initially happy when Lippi got back to coaching the team but I was deeply wrong, in this period he barely changed the roster, only Rossi and Santon got called (and Santon should have played tonight). It's a well deserved loss for us, I hope this will be a wake up call for Lippi to realize that we need a complete renewal.

And of course I expect all the haters to come in here and laugh at us as usual, as if the Spanish media denigrating in the past days wasn't enough.

and into the semi we go. Fraizer Campbell came off the bench and in we go. played badly against Finland in the first half, didn't change gears quick enough. but this time from the first minute Pearce got the response. Walcott was all over them when he came on. hopefully Agbonlahor isn't injurd. he played well until he got subd. Spain did threaten but, no end result. Campbell had a good finish.

I actually feel hurt. It'd be a thing if Italy didn't have the talent, but they do and that just makes it sad. >_>

Yeah it's a shame that Italy didn't get past Egypt... but hey, you can't take it away from the Egyptians. They play an exciting brand of football. I mean look what they did to Brazil...

I'm not taking away anything from Egypt, they fully deserved their win. I'm simply disappointed at team Italy. Or rather not disappointed, I should say frustrated and a bit pissed off, because we have so many good players that could have been called that would have done way better than Lippi's geezers. Foggia, D'Agostino, Brighi, Motta, Giovinco, Balotelli, Bocchetti, Santacroce, Marchisio, Marchetti, Pellissier, Floccari, Maggio, Paloschi...

That's why me and a lot of other team Italy supporters feel like this. If Italy played with their best men and lost we wouldn't be too angry at them, afterall there's no loss in the heart of those who fight. The sad thing is that we keep relying on the ageing stars of the past. Why did Gattuso got called when he didn't play a single game in past six months due to his knee injury? It was OBVIOUS that he could not keep up with the pace for 90 minutes. Same goes for Camoranesi who's been injuried throughout the whole season. And what the heck is Pepe doing in the national team? He has no dribbling skills, his crosses are not even that good. Foggia and Maggio in that position are miles and miles ahead of him in terms skills and pace. But I guess Lippi's choice reflect some sort of politics within the team selection, bah.

Lippi has won a World Cup and no one can deny he's certainly among the best coaches that we've ever had, but he should realize that even if he holds affection towards the players that made him win that World Cup it is time to let them off and renew the WHOLE team, not just one or two players. Rossi and Santon (who still has to play an official game) are not enough.

Same here. They're probably gunning for Torres. Depends on if Tevez leaves methinks.

I seriously doubt Torres will leave Liverpool to join ManU... ManU's style of play does not suit Torres at all.

And besides, Torres won't be a hit with the Man United fans at all...They can't stand him most of them

^^^does this mean clishy(can't spell) is leaving??

ManU won't be getting Torres. first there is no way Rafa would let him leave. i think it's time to get the yongestrs out again for Fergi. he's got wallback, foster, rafaeal x2, campbell, gibson. meceda and players like tosic that he bought. i have not seen Tosic play yet but i have seen all the others. and they are all good enough to make it inot the team. with the ageing legs of Neville, schols, van de saar and giggs, it's the right time that Tevez and renaldo have left. anderson and Evens are establised already. they can fill in. and campbell showed good sense in the under 21 match as well as good finishing. it's the right time for him to start playing first team.

And once again Spain have killed off the opponent. 2-0 against South Africa. They now have the world record of 15 consecutive victories. They are also now sitting on 35 matches unbeaten - equalling Brazil's run from 1993 to 1996.

Viva el espana!
