Well, any way, I lolled at the drama post match for Chelsea team. Roman leaving early, newspapers making fun of Jose new haircut..
It looks awful, like some oily italian or something.

He's ruined his career by coming to Chelsea. Would of been sticking with Bayern.

Too bad for him.

Ballack had to fit into Chelsea's midfield, as opposed to the midfield fitting around him.

Can't believe McClaren has to risk jabbing Gerrard's toe with painkillers with adverse side-effects just to deal with Israel. No offense to any Israelis here, but has England run out of talent that they have to rely solely on Gerrard to beat Israel?

Gerrard of course wants to play for his country, but McClaren shouldn't force him to play when he obviously isn't fit.

Perversely, I'd like to see England fail to qualify for Euro 2008 so that McClaren can get sacked along with his favouritism selections (like picking inconsistent Wes Brown and fragile Ledley King over the impeccable Jamie Carragher, causing Carragher to snap and call it quits) and hopefully someone more competent like Sam Allardyce can take charge.

well. you have to admit england has been hit hard by injuries. rooney, lampard, beckham--a lot of their most creative players are gone. and especially since israel's gonna put 11 men behind the ball, a creative player like gerrard will be really really helpful. at any rate, gerrard has just been declared fit and he'll start the game against israel. good for gerrard and good for england, imo. they need and deserve a good result to cheer em up.

Steve McClaren's recent choices seem to be those of a desperate man. Recalling an average-on-a-good-day striker who hasn't played for the national team in 3 years, giving one of his best players painkillers to take on mediocre opposition, etc.
But then, he is desperate. Besides the fact that his job is on the line, he also has to deal with this (from bbc.co.uk);

(Also at BBC, pick England's starting 11)
Although he hasn't been going about things the right way, we won't think any less of him, simply because that is almost impossible.

I really doubt our qualification chances...We've thrown away too many easy points.

^If we play as well as today, with the players that we're missing, then we should be able to qualify. We just haven't been playing well for the best part of a year.
