These should be Enka songs from the 1980s. Any kind souls care to help?

Here's one of the songs after conversion to MP3 format:

That's Subaru by Tanimura Shinji who formerly was a member of Alice.

This is another famous song the band sang.

But don't give the mic to Takamura.

I love Alice. Started when I heard them perform at Kohaku in 2005, lasted ever since. Both Horiuchi and Tanimura have fantastic voices, and their tunes are really memorable.

As seen as it is a live performance on national television I have a question for those who might be able to tell me the following =< when are those performances aired, is it a yearly thing? and on what channel?

Also I would love to buy some cd's but can anyone pin point me to where I might be able to purchase them?

Most of the live performances are vids more than 5 years ago.

It depends on which songs you are looking for but I think Amazon.jp would be more than able to provide you with the albums you are looking for.

I loved these that I used "Urami-Bushi" as part of my fanfic soundtrack. Still poignant.

A question for any Japanese native speaker or someone who is very fluent in Japanese: How is Jero's pronunciation? Is there any distinction from a native Japanese speaker? For example, does he sound like he is speaking Japarish just like how many Japanese speaks Engrish?

That's a nice voice by the way.

He is the real deal.
If I close my eyes and just hear him sing I would never be able to tell the difference.
Not only that but more importantly he understands and sings the "HEART & SOUL of enka!"

Here is an interesting clip;
it's one of those amature singing contests that is aired ever week on NHK.
If what he says is true, Jero just after two month geting off the plane fro the States entered this contest.
You can hear the before and after of the audience.
That is how good he is.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0WcTEr8XJg
It's at 1:49.

=Edit=
He's speaking ponouncation and intonations are still gajin though.

You can compare it yourself, I picked up some song Jero sang with the original.
Jero

Original

=Edit2=
This vid probably demonstrates how Jero is the real deal.
It's an enka duet you can hear how the harmony which really difficult if you aren't in to it.

Wouldn't be Teresa Teng be your artist of first choice then?

I watched Jero on last year's Kohaku. He's good, and Umiyuki is a fine song, but I wish he'd stop it with that hip-hop dressing. I'm sure it's his agency that makes him do it, but it's still ridiculous.

I grew up with my Grandparents. And quite often to the sound of Enka. I grew to really like it at the same time. It might just be an acquired taste or something you need to listen to quite often to really enjoy it. It's really great to listen to when you just plop down on the couch after an exhausting day.

This sounds a little random, I'm not really into enka. Anyone that knows enka well, is Mizuki Nana singing good? To me, the singing sounds amazing, but I don't know a thing about enka, I just know she's trained in enka since she is 5. It's around 1:40 into the video.

The last song was written solely for the purpose to decorate here retirement from the stage and although it was not shown in the vid she places the mic on the stage floor at the very end making a silent statement that she will never return to the limelights again.
It is probably the most heart gripping stage I had ever seen.
WOW, that has to be the saddest goodbye concert i ever seen. The raw genuine emotion shes showing . . . made me tear up.

EDIT:

Iv been watching him as well, great singer. His agency needs to drop the whole "gangsta" look and give him a Frank Sinatra look. The style would keep the "soul bother" stereotype, but giving him a classical manly look.

I have been listening to Chinese traditional music for so long that I thought it was time to change. I love Japanese enka music. This song in particular truly heightens the beauty of nature.

Sayuri Ishikawa remains my favourite enka singer alongside Misora Hibari. I could feel the emotion that they channel into the song. So much passion!

IMO, Nana-chan should sing more enka although admittedly, enka doesn't crop up in anime often...

That deserves a reup...although not enka per se, Momoe Yamaguchi is easily the aneki of the current J-idol scene. That speech and song were heart wrenching
