@ Hooves, for some of the stories, yes it's almost like the porn is driving the plot, if I'm interpreting your question correctly.

Finally finished it after intermittent breaks (and work). It's not the best fandisc, but it's not the worst. The most I can say is it preserves the original's atmosphere, what with gags (I like), hilarious "serious" plot ("Execute Order 66", I was literally rolling around in my seat unnerving my wife), fight scenes aplenty (hate) and the "masterful" escapades of one "bed yakuza", Naoe Yamato. If you liked anyone of those, it's a solid deal.

Without spoiling anything, I would say, story-wise, only the two new characters shine. The three "promotions" are amazingly shallow and contrived that I can't help but feel cheated. For example, I hated the way Kokoro was handled (I can't stand her character but she was interesting as a "target" in the original) It's....mostly just porn.

The same goes for the after-stories: only two, Momoyo and Chris actually have meat between the porn, and while there is sufficient fluffy background in the rest, it didn't interest me in the least - didn't even have gags.

There are other routes covering the side-characters, like that baseball fanatic girl and others, but again, it's cautioned that I feel Yamato is a bit out of character in these and is mostly just there for the sex. I mean, the protagonist's friends even comment that the way to losing virginity is through baseball....

As with the last, the super "final" route that takes all the new elements (like the clones and the Kuki Zaibatsu) and mashes them up in one big round of fightan'. The good news is that it's a thoughtful after-story that I felt did justice to Koyuki (the girl in this route) after what I saw transpired in the original.

As stated, I had a blast hearing all those voices. Some of the other features - not so much. If they ever make an anime out of this, how much would it cost for them to hire all them voice actors for the huge cast?

Strawberry Nauts: All routes done except for Mikamo (playing at the moment).
Touko was okay-ish. Her having "much" insecurities about the relationship was, albeit common in VNs, a bit tiresome after a while. The final drama-bit with the school radio transmission of her was done quite well. Basically the only time where Seitarou "shined"
Yayoi's ending-bit drama was heartwarming and the cute moments before they got together were lovely. Painting her feelings/words she cannot express outwards, was a neat concept to show her art hobby.
Izuki's route was one of the best to boot. The drama was actually pre-confession and ended with the confession by Seitarou! Probably the only route where he did the first step . Afterwards full lovey-dovey and icha-icha. And you actually received a flashback O_O.

Has anyone played the full version of Midori no Umi yet? I'm extremely unsure whether to try it or not. I'm fine with drama itself, but too heavy cases I take with hesitation. It has a drama-tag (a first warning for me) on vndb, so if it's too dark and/or gory visual elements I will humbly step away from it
I was fine with the level of harsh-settings in Sharin no Kuni and friends, Crescendo and A drug that makes you dream (Ayaka's route was quite heavy when I had first played it) once I'm "mentally" ready for it.

I finished it a couple of months ago.
Going by your preferences you should stay far, far away from it, it's basically a horror game with an all around creepy / depressing atmosphere, no icha icha for you.

Spoiler:
Oh! As long as the drama isn't exaggerated that sounds like the type of game I should enjoy. It's been in my backlog ever since it was released and I wasn't completetly sure if I should read it.

Are there any translated eroge out there, that have gameplay elements?
I'm not a big fan of the pure VN style games, need something to keep me from clicking through, even if it's just minigames...

For now I have found two games that did:
Sengoku Rance and Utawarerumono

Any idea for other english translated titles like that, which I could look out for?

Eien no Aselia, Tears to Tiara, The Phoenix Wright series.

The upcoming Seinarukana and Tenkuu no Yumina.

Though are you looking for games with sex or Visual Novels with gameplay?
Since both majong porno games and Visual Novels with sex are eroge.

I'm pretty open to what kind of gameplay there is. It just should be a bit more than only text+cg.

Majong games are ok too, I learned a bit of majong through one H majong game a few years back. That was pretty good.

Thank you for the recommendations.
I will check out Eien no Aselia and Tears to Tiara for now.

After remembering that I posted a load of Visual Novels. I looked it up and found the list Here

Enjoy.

While Seinarukana -The Spirit of Eternity Sword 2 and Yumina the Ethereal are approaching like Usami Haru said. Definitely worth checking out when they release. Daiteikoku is roughly expected to get a 35% translation patch release sooner or later.

Getting them will still take some effort, so in the meantime I found this little gem called
Monster Girl Quest or Monmusu Quest.
Has some very nice comedy elements and good characters.

Warning about Eien though....fabulous story but the game mechanics....some of the most tedious and slow stuff I've ever done

^ Agree, but not as worse as Koihime Musou's gameplay. Where it just grew repetitive and boring.

Also a note on Monmusu Quest. It's certainly worth it for the story, since I don't see the point in losing. Especially after Monmusu Quest part 2, and the upcoming part 3. I do like frfr's work in terms of illustration (frfr drew the four Great Spirits).

I completed another Whirlpool game . This time: Magus Tale; don't hate me should the name awake bad memories/experience in you :3.
Okay honestly: The story had more "potential" than it showed in all routes and at least two semi-plot points that were only mentioned once and then never again, but more in a spoiler. Secondly, it had a few nice music tracks and the cast was likeable even though the routes of the twins were lackluster. Alisha, Serra and Koyuki to a degree were simply more satisfying. Last, but not least, the true route must have been the shortest of the whirlpool VNs I played. Not necessaryily bad, but at least unexpected.

Spoiler for Various:

Still, Suzukaze no Melt's true route remains unmatched among the whirlpool vn's I played.
Oh well, time for another route of the drama fest called Sakura Strasse. Either Osananajimi or Onee-chan route unless I find something more entertaining of the few titles I still have on-going.

I manage to finish Monster Girl Quest 1 and though it's more focus on getting rape by them, I find this game interesting and funny.

Now my problem is getting the 2nd chapter....

Another thing, what amazed me is how the creators never failed to assist the player in overcoming difficult boss fights. You don't need a walkthrough just to finish this game.

MagusTale is my favorite game from Whrilpool. My memories are mostly happy ones (remembering the twins ). About those loose points, you may want to read Alicia's route in the fandisk which, IIRC, is closer to be the true ending with Daiki's magic at the center of everything. There's also a Harem route

Started playing Gin no Toki no Corona. Still not to far into the game but I'm just as shocked as the protagonist regarding the speed with which everything is developing. Not bad but, feels like the game doesn't take itself seriously. Corona is cute <3

Traveling with a hungry, tsundere, scary looking monster-snake-lady is fun.

Spoiler for spoiler:

There are a bit too many weird tentacle monsters, but aside from that, it's all fine.

I have been playing Corona as well for the last few days, and overall it has been a very lukewarm experience. Besides the game having a bit of identity crisis in terms of how serious it wants to be (which varies from "quite" to "not very"), the plot and antagonists are disappointingly shallow. The villains honestly have no real depth beyond "Me evil, me want Corona's power, me smash!" and feel like an excuse to justify the existence of the battle system. I enjoy the title having a battle system for sure, but the whole concept of why they are fighting is sadly shallow.

Ah well, it's not like we all haven't seen lackluster settings before, so I can live with that. But what really irks me is the selection of available main heroines: only Corona, Tokino and Muriel have routes ... and I honestly can't find either Corona or Muriel appealing. I'd trade them both in a heartbeat for the ability to have a Kaname's route instead At least Tokino has managed to grow on me, with her practical yet gentle nature. While I was pretty surprised she is considered the school's idol because look wise she appears rather average next to some of the characters, but at least I can see why her personality would be quite popular.

Corona on the other hand .. meh, she has the mentality of a little child, so it's somewhat hard not to raise an eyebrow at her "romantic developments" with Touka. She honestly has no clue about anything love or romance related, and the only reason she knows anything about "that" is because she has spent too much time listening to Muriel and the gang cracking perverted jokes on regular basis

And Muriel is just a borderline joke character who is not to be taken seriously 90% of the time (and in the remaining 10% she is just setting up another troll, by appearing slightly more serious than usual at first, only to turn it upside down the next moment). Why does she have a route instead of some of the considerably more appealing side characters!? Aaargh!

On another note, you saying the developments move fast certainly cracked a grin from me, as I remember feeling the same way (The romance between Touka and Corona was pretty much jumpstarted and progressed to the bed in the same moment) ... let me guess though: You haven't actually gotten to the part where the game plays its opening, have you ? Let's just say it became evident after that why the plot was seemingly moving fast at first ... and my current impression is that I'm spinning my wheels in place, and want to just get on with it already!

Spoiler for Plot of Corona:

So ...yeah, the game is draining my energy, and pretty quickly at this point

By the time I wrote that post I had already finished the first battle. Before the opening, I expected it would take some time before Tokino accepted Touka as her companion but turns out it didn't even took a day for that happen plus, we get to meet Corona (& Muriel) the same day in such a normal / ordinary way it's hard to believe she has the power to either destroy or save the world. Muriel's "kamoshirenai / tabun" during her speech made it look even more like a joke

Felt like the game was rushing everything to get as soon as possible to STG part.

Yes, lukewarm and shallow are the words I would use to describe the development so far (currently right after the second STG part). Right now, the characters are the only thing that keep entertained.

Side-character don't have proper routes but they seems to have "endings" within the main story or so I have heard but yeah, lack of proper routes for everyone is a drawback for me too. At least, Kumi, Akane and Kaname deserved a proper route each.

My kingdom for Kaname's route! I easily find her to be the most appealing of the bunch - her warm (and occasionally a little shy) demeanor, her generally polite mannerisms, and her complex about being rather tall (Not to mention my love for ponytails )- a familiar package it might be, but certainly a highly appealing one.

And yes, the side characters have "endings", in the sense that you can eventually land in a H scene with one (By choosing to do the side-story events on the map between story chapters ... Kaname's comes up first, Asuka's was second, Kumi's was third (And was comedy gold ... she decided to tease Touka in a somewhat mean manner, but ended up with more than she bargained for ), and I haven't gotten any past those yet), after which you get a message that amounts to "And they spent their time happily, but the world came to an end, so no dice", after which you are put back on the world map side story selection screen, right where you were before triggering the scene, but unable to do so again.

So, yeah, you can have Touka end up with someone else ... except the game will basically laugh at your attempt to do so and set you back on the "correct" path Which is pure evil, because you essentially get teased with 5 minutes worth of material and a glimpse of how a "proper" route for said characters would look like ... except there isn't one. The feeling isn't helped by the fact that the three "main" side characters (Kanama, Akane, Kumi) are a good deal more interesting than two of the three main characters (Corona and Muriel), and more believable romance interests. Nothing to spoil the experience like a feeling you have the "wrong" heroine routes available for selection.

I'm planning to backtrack and play Yumina after I am done with one playthrough of Corona (Not sure if I'll be able to stomach more than that), as I haven't done so yet, and I can only hope that one is better. At least the premise should be easier to stomach, as that one looks like pure comedy based on sheer ridiculousness

I decided to start playing Satsuki's route in Lover Able and her cuteness-factor or "HNGHHH!?"-level has been extraordinally high once her route began. I guess this is the true strenght of the "moe-ge" visual novels .

And started playing Signal Heart . Chisa's waves of teasing and "trolling" have been quite amusing, but it was stony road until she fully accepted and responded to Hajime's confession ... Not really interersted in Kokone's route by now, but I would have saved her for the last playthrough anyways.
