Yesterday's game showed what can happen when an athletic team goes against a team that's far more experienced in playing for NBA championships. It started off close, but LA's jumpshots picked apart Orlando in the 3rd quarter

and their defense. they were always criticized for their 'on and off' defense. i think phil jackson was just doing that so people think LAL sucks.

And the Lakers are up 2-0 in the NBA finals, thats awesome for me because I have been a Lakers fan since I was a little kid in the 80's and I have been a fan of Kobe Bryant since I saw him in the Slam Dunk Contest back in 1996. It's going to feel so good to see Kobe hold up his 4th championship as well as the Finals MVP trophy!

All the Lakers need to do is win one of these next three at Orlando and they got it synched. I definitely don't think it'll be a sweep, but I'll be surprised if this gets to Game 7.

Im neither a Kobe or Lakers fan, but wanted to point out that another Championship by the lakers here is going to stop critics from saying that kobe could only win Chanpionships before because of Shaq.

I still wanted it to be a Cavs vs Lakers finals

I never bought into the "Kobe couldn't do it without Shaq" crap, the 2nd and 3rd year that they won it was more Kobe's team than it was Shaq's and besides, nobody does it alone. Look at Lebron back in 07'..........

Yay for Gasol =]
Would have been better if they won Game 6 at home. Not a lot of Laker fans out there in Orlando.

Bump for obvious reasons.

The preseason has been going on fora while now, and the season is set to start a week from tonight with the Celts travelling to play the Cavs.

Any early season predictions? Can anyone stop the Lakers in the West? Will this finally be LeBron's year with Shaq by his side? Will the world finally see that Kobe vs LeBron that everyone has been waiting for?

Ugghh. . .looks like the Joe Theismann injury and that gruesome Tyrone Prothro foot injury when he played WR for Alabama. Hard to look at.

Could this be changed to simply 'The Basketball Thread' or something?

The conference tourneys were very exciting(as usual), the Big East Tournament especially. Has anyone filled out their brackets?

I was never into filling the brackets, perhaps because I'm not very knowledgeable about other teams . Though I don't think they'll make it far in the tourney, I'm going to pull for Cal, just because of school pride xD. I think I'll take the young Kentucky team to go all the way.

At long last, the NBA Playoffs are here. I really wish that the NBA would change the playoff format to 3-5-5-7 or something, two months is too damn long.

Eastern Conference:

(1) Cleveland Cavaliers vs. (8) Chicago Bulls (Regular season series: 2-2)
(2) Orlando Magic vs. (7) Charlotte Bobcats (Regular season series: 3-1, Magic)
(3) Atlanta Hawks vs. (6) Milwaukee Bucks (Regular season series: 2-1, Hawks)
(4) Boston Celtics vs. (5) Miami Heat (Regular season series series: 3-0, Celtics)

Western Conference:
(1) Los Angeles Lakers vs. (8) Oklahoma City Thunder (Regular season series: 3-1, Lakers)
(2) Dallas Mavericks vs. (7) San Antonio Spurs (Regular season series: 3-1, Mavs)
(3) Phoenix Suns vs. (6) Portland Trailblazers (Regular season series: 2-1, Blazers)
(4) Denver Nuggets vs. (5) Utah Jazz (Regular season series: 3-1, Nuggets)
