well, doing that is OBVIOUS spamming which can get spammers banned.

yep, if somebody has too high an average word count, they appear to drag out their posts. which can also be a judge of character. a middle-ground between too many words and too few words would be ideal for most people, but people cannot consciously obtain such a middle ground, thusly it would be a good way to judge true character.

You mean in your title?..
In the, currently dead, Mai HiME/Otome forum Preston used to write his posts using the font called DarkRed.. then in his title he would write something like 250+ posts in DarkRed or something like that..
He only posted posts in the Mai HiME/Otome forums, ATT I know NoSanninWa and Catgirls were hanging around and I don't think any of them gave a damn..

I think that: as long as you don't try to make yourself look stupid writing someting like l33732t memeber - 400 posts no one minds.. actually from my POV Preston's title looked pretty cool ATT. :)

Ah I was wondering why the post counts werent listed. Glad this information was posted. Generally when Im on forums I pay little attention to the count since its what you post not how many you have the people should remember. Its possible to have a ton of posts and not spam, I try to on other forums but since Im still kinda new here I dont have many posts XD

Its not really a concern to me how many posts I or another has
Its not the post number that counts, its the posts themselves

Anyone with a bold username is a mod or admin, it's as simple as that. Alternatively you could just click the View Forum Leaders link at the bottom of the main forum page

To be honest, I still have no idea what it is you are asking for.

Is it about post counts? Is it about your user title (which yours is currently set to "Junior Member", the default).

If it is your custom user title you want to change, then go to your User CP > Edit Profile > Custom User Title

I think he's trying to say he has no clue as to who are the moderators or admins on the forum or can;t recognise them as such

My answer to that would be: check this list here

Just like Radiosity's answer

if he doesn't mean that.. I'm stumped as well

NoSanninWa (short: NSW) = Admin and Catgirls = Super Moderator (Mod)
Mmm.. ok.. I'll just explain it to you.. so there's no more confusion..

Moderators
---------------------------------------
  • Bolded username..
  • They may delete/edit/remove your posts, delete/edit/remove/close/move/merge your threads only in specific forums..

For example Dranz only has power over the Naruto forum.. outside the Naruto forum he's just like any other members. Or, there's AnimeOni who has power over the BitTorrent, Download Help, Playback Help, Tech Support forums.
  • They may ban you anywhere.. they are however unable to unban you.. ^^
  • They also can edit your signature..

Super Moderators
---------------------------------------
  • Bolded username..
  • The may delete/edit/remove your posts, delete/edit/remove/close/move/merge your threads anywhere on forum.. Basically moderators which area of control spans the entire forum.. :D
  • The can ban you.. and edit your signature..
  • They lack administrative abilities.. they can not change your username for example..

Administrators
---------------------------------------
  • Username is written in Bold and Italic.
  • They essentially share all the characteristics of Super Moderators (good looks, sexy posts etcetera) and more.. read on..
  • They can change your username.. (contact xris or NightWish)
  • Delete your unintentional/accidental duplicate accounts ^^
  • Edit your title, view/track your pm, view your reputation stats.. what rep you gave what rep you received when, by whom, and so on.. (these are, if I'm not mistaken integrated functions of VBulletin, so it's very very easy for them to do so)
  • They can alter the sites code (to insert things like banners), create new BB tags.. (BTW if you have an idea for a BB you may create a thread about it in this forum ;)) Note that while they CAN alter the site.. THEY won't alter the site.. it's forum policy as stated by xris on numerous occasions.. ;)
  • They can un-ban you..
  • Create new forums.. limit or unlimit old ones..
  • Change reputation behavior/title/variables as well as many other forum settings (like enabling you to delete posts, or enabling you to rate threads, disabling your ability to rep people and so on...)
  • <Insert Here Numerous Other Supernatural Abilities That Shall Not Be Spoken ;D>

~Ahh yes contact the Admins for referrals...

Moderators and Super Moderators are referred to as Mods..
Administrators are referred to as Admins..

Anyway.. sort briefing..
GHDpro is the big boss.. you'll find him fixing forum bugs etcetera.. also the creator of AnimeSuki, The Front Page etcetera.. generally doesn't moderate forums/threads.. although you might notice him in the Fansub Groups or the AnimeSuki & Technology forum moderating
Mb81 is the kind person on whos servers the forums runs.
NightWish, xris and NoSanninWa are little bosses you'll notice them moderating and keeping the forum shiny.. generally~ you'll notice NightWish tweaking/fixing/improving the forum xris handling all the anime torrent and user related issues (he'll generally answer you faster then anybody else :D) and NoSanninWa.. uhhhhhhhh~.. goofing around and making sure you have a good time.. xD (yay for banner contest) Of course I'm only talking about the area where they seem~ to be more active.. they officially share the same responsibilities

Before you ask (and cause a ruckus, like other people before you), Super Moderator Helly-chan is the only femele staff member.. well you can never be sure if she's the only one.. but that's most likely the case judging from the posting habits of the other candidates.. :D

Out of the mods you'll probably get to know Catgirls the best since he's (from my POV) the only mod one that really lurks everywhere.. ;)
Big thanks for all your hard work Cats.. :D

Anyway hope that answers all your question.. if you or anybody else would like to start a discussion about AS hard working staff or any other member there's a thread in the General Chat forum.. Rate that Member~ or something like that.. do a search you'll definitely find it.. it's not closed and you can say anything you like there about anybody on the forum as long as you don't start a flame-war or be very insulting ;)

A little information can be a dangerous thing...

Be careful not to mislead people if you're not 100% sure The staff (even Administrators) cannot view Private Messages. We can bulk delete a user's PMs (and will to remove spam) but the content remains locked away on the server. In theory someone with access to the database (Mb81) could look for the content, but it wouldn't a simple matter, like say... viewing reputation comments.

Not even using a nasty way? I know that in Invision there was an ability to change the user's password from the Admin Panel and then it's just a matter of logging off and back on again...

Personally I think a direct access to the database is much more basic (= simple) than anything the board software can offer as an interface. At least if you know how the database works, which should be a requirement for the administrator.
Using PhpMyAdmin may simplifies the searching in the database. Then again, I hope Mb81 did not permit db access from outside the server cluster's Intra-Net, that'ld be very dangerous. So my guess is, it can only be accessed by means of loggin in on secure shell (or similar). Still he could use a SSH-tunnel then... well nvm. I think Mb81 knows how to search a database with SQL.

What matters in a post is quality rather than quantity . I really dont think with the mods around their are any spams ( two three words) .

Naruto Sections yes, even most of the threads are rehashed , pointless and repetative . Lets not even go to the posts some Yondaime and Uchicha Otakus have set real new highs in pointless post .

But note if you do notice Naruto Section at a time has always highest number of users so its not an easy task modetrating . The general quality of posts seen in Animesuki are upto the mark and not pointless .

I totally agree with you.. sometimes when I visit the Naruto forum.. I wonder if those people just post to reply.. ?? :/
I mean c'mon.. what possible conclusion can they reach?!.. Many of the threads are so useless.. I'm starting to wonder if the ones creating them are actually people.. for example..
Is itatchi a "super genious" compared to others??, Byukugan vs. Sharingan, Can Orochimaru really make Sasuke stronger than Itachi?

And then there are threads like.. [Manga] Sasuke is stronger than Yondaime.. what's the point of creating such a thread.. they're all just generators for trolling and spam.. :(

BTW, about the viewers thing.. I don't see those threads moving as fast as they do in the active series threads..
Maybe someday the mods will put their fut down and say no to all that fan fiction.. but alas it's basically tradition ATM.. :(

P.S. I don't think any of the mods actually reads all of those threads..

If you wish to see a person's post count, click on their name and select "View user profile." Post counts are still displayed there.
*bump*

ah man that sucks, put it back to the old way. I certainly do judge the knowledge a person has by their post count, : )

I don't wanna click an extra link everytime to see their count. ugh.

I'm afraid your post has not added anything of weight, to the argument for using post counts, so we will not be changing the policy or restoring the feature.
