Can't get rid of bad quality

I had to format my hd and reinstall windows. I have installed the latest version of ffdshow, xvid, and divx. I can watch all the same file types as before so I don't really have a problem with that. But for some reason even tho I'm using the same codecs as before the video quality is worse than before I formated no matter what I player I use.

is there some kind of settings in ffdshow or something else that might fix this?

Any help is appreciated.

Now I've got to go to sleep. Stayed up to 3 am trying to figure this out.

I presume a codec issue. Read this for instructions on know to solve that.

To attract attention of course - isn't that what a signature is for?
You can still find my Azureus Download Guide here

By all means, make sure to read this.

didn't work

hmm this is weird

the only strange thing i can think of that might cause this is that when i was using windows update i accidently download the updates to windows media player 9 before i even downloaded windows media player 9

don't know if that would cause a problem or not tho

this sucks, i have to watch anime with bad quality *cries*

What do you mean when you say "bad quality"?

Well the amount varies but the best word I can think of are fuzy. Like if it was a tv the sharpness would need to be cut up. And there also seems to be a whitish tone to it.

I switched to some older driver that I had and it improved the quality but not to the point that it was at before. I think I deleted the drivers I was using. So I'm just going to try different drivers until it gets back to the way it was before.
