Codec Help

Problems, problems galore. To start out I have this type of computer and this is what I normaly run the .avi's in.

I have a 1.25 GHz powerPC G4 iMac

I run the avi's in Quicktime Pro

I have WMP and RealPlayer although don't like them
Earlier I used Quicktime and it played all the avi's i downloaded but when i downloaded a new codec it screwed up quicktime. I now can't play the avi's I then deleted all the codecs i had and have looked but haven't found any information about Macintosh Codecs for Quicktime Pro. If possible I would like to stick to Quicktime because I know it works instead of using other programs such as WMP. Any Help would be greatly appreciated

Ummm... Could you help me out. I just got a mac and can't play any of my stuff. Is there a better player than Quicktime? What should I do.

I don't use a Mac myself, but I am given to understand that everything can be played with the MPlayer OS X or VLC. In either case you won't need to do all that tedious mucking about with codecs that PC users bother and fret about.

Edit: Less than 1 minute slow, but still...

Definatly go for the VLC Player.
