Yes, you are suppose to laugh at them for their stupidity.
As for the movie I haven't watched it so I can't judge, but I don't think you should let opinions of the idiots to influence your decision.

I want to see that movie, but seriously I wish they had just left the bad guys as Russians - they make such good bad guys, which is why we love them so! Way to cave... stupid movie studio.

Red Dawn is such a bad movie.... Ugh. And I'm NOT just saying that cuz I'm Asian. :P

Russia is almost believable. North Korea.... not so much. Aside from a low population, they don't have the technological capacity to invade South Korea, much less the US. If the very premise of the movie kills my suspension of disbelief, how the heck am I supposed to enjoy it?
