HEh, I only learned of Elfen Lied last night.


Everything there was talked about on this thread, at least regarding the anime, I know to the full now.

Oh I've been watching it ever since ep.1 was subbed. ^^; I'm waiting for ep.7. I'm just kinda slow I guess.. @_@ I need to watch it two or three times to fully get the episode.. ^^; but because I'm so low on space (my comp is total crap) I have to delete all episodes of all my anime after i've watched it. ;-;'

But I'm new to AnimeSuki forums, I'm sure if I was here from the start I'd understand more since you're all talking about it, I'd probaby get things I didn't when I watched it. e_e;

Man, I don't understand why everyone thinks Lucy will go apeshit over Kouta and Yuka getting together. Keep in mind she DOESN'T want to hurt Kouta anymore. And there's no evidence to show that it was because Kouta said he liked YUka in the past that Lucy went nuts and killed everybody. I'm sure there's another reason other than such a trivial one. Maybe something like the scientists coming to capture Lucy but Lucy awakened, fought back, killed a lot of them and bystanders including Koutas father and sister until Kouta stopped her

He was escaping because his sterilization was up next. He had different ideas however.

Well, there were two fairly obvious scenes.

First of all, Lucy reacted extremely jealous when she saw Yuka taking Kouta's hand - rewatch the scene. On a reflex, she vector-punches Yuka away. Then, she's getting teary-eyed when she saw Kouta comforting Yuka right afterwards and has a childhood flashback in which young Kouta comforts young Yuka.

Lucy definitely has strong feelings for Kouta, and while it's not entirely clear yet whether or not they are romantic in nature, her memories of her former times with him are pleasant (see the Nyuu-hug flashback about Kouta and her playing in some water).

I do love the detailed construction of the settings. The emerging triangle is very touching and believable, and it will be so interesting to see what happens when the hammer drops and everyone realizes who Nyuu really is and especially what REALLY happened in the past. It's kinda like KimiNozo ep2 in reverse ... a bad case of "sheet happens" HAS occurred in the past and will ultimately wreak havoc in the present.

Now that I think about it, all that red in that Kouta/Yuka hugging scene does symbolize Lucy (imo) but Lucy was nowhere nearby, since if she were the camera WOULD have focused on her reactions---especially when Kouta and Yuka kiss.

I think Lucy doesn't quite realize Kouta's repressed all his memories from before. Maybe she will, sooner or later. That could imply quite a bit.

But there are many obvious scenes where it points to Lucy about the events eight years ago.
1.Kouta has no good and clear memories around the "accident'
2.When Kouta saw the dead body of that teacher and when the assisstant said "this kind of work" or something he had a flashback him standing in blood.
3.When Lucy was going to kill Kouta..SHE had a flashback of Kouta saying stop in the past.
4.Kouta's flashback of holding his sisters head when Lucy mentioned eight years ago.
5.Kouta's somewhat "shock" and sudden "amnesia" when remembering eight years ago.
(6). I thnk the camera angle of Kouta and Yuka kissing represents something that Lucy had done in the past when she heard Kouta saying he liked Yuka.
7.It is for sure that Lucy and Kouta had met in the past.

Well, I didn't write the script for the episode, but this is what happened ... I suspect that you've watched the A4**** version? Their translation is quite a bit off there. Compare against ****in:

After Bando is offered the sedatives, the doctor says:

Kore kara tekishutsu shujutsu wo konaimasu no de

Which translates to "After this, you'll be going through the removal operation". With our knowledge of what happened, and especially the _immediate_ connection from "in exchange for my balls" - "Well then take these" and Bando's dramatic escape through the window, there's no other credible explanation that the sterilization has not yet taken place, and Bando is escaping now that it _is_ supposed to happen.

If I recall correctly, the japanese phrase used in episode 2 was to "neuter". Don't make the mistake to interpret too much into already interpreted translations of fansubbers. We're talking about making sure that Bando can't have any children anymore. That's all which counts.

The answer to the first question is "due to the flashbacks, obviously so". The answer to questions 2 and 3 are "Not conclusively shown yet, only some small innuendos which are still open to interpretation".

The fansub I have says 'castrate'.

Castrate -> can't have sex anymore.

Sterilise -> can have sex, but can't have children.

So I'd say it's a pretty big difference.
