Aiya! This has to be the most goriest and most disturbing anime I have seen since Narutaru and it's only the first episode.

I can handle seeing the guards being ripped to shreds because they died fighting but seeing a innocent cute employee getting killed is like a smack to the face.
It just me or is it because this is the only latest gory anime that it's a top hit?

I have to admit the animation is nicely done even the gory parts, but the orchestral music playing during the gory parts is just pyscho. I don't think I can handle seeing anymore cute characters getting slaughtered.

My thoughts for episode 3.

Beginning from this episode onwards, Yuka is giving Kouta either Keitaro Urashima or Sasaki Yukinari beating treatment, although so very, very toned down.

Well, that's what I'm perceiving right now between Yuka and Kouta's relationship.

This episode also showcased two new previous characters that were briefly introduced in the last one.

Mayu, who she likely will end living in Kouta's household.

Nana

It was an awesome turn of events how did Nyu turned straight into Lucy without much bush beating.

More about the vector ability and the Dicloni is explained in this episode.

The most suspensful scene...

Is Kouta a barrier to contain Lucy?

Well, I just finished watching episodes 2 and 3, and I think this anime seems to be getting better now. There isn't any big gore going around which is a good thing for me because, imo, too much gore is a bad thing. Bandou had what was coming to him and his condition is quite a fitting punishment. The third episode was quite funny except for the scene where Nana bathed in blood. I am wondering if Nyu has the instinctual drive to reproduce because Kurama said she could and will breed with normal humans. That's probably why she and Kouta were getting it on in the hallway.

I've had a try on this anime and watched the 4 first episodes so far and it really is pretty gore.
Well it's interesting though if you forget about the fanservices :P

Unlike Gantz, Elfen Lied has remained uncensored for its first TV run.

Anyways, what's with Japanese obssession with German? Is it a new fancy, language trend?

I don't think it's a new fancy, it dates back to... I don't know, maybe WW2? Anyway there were plenty of German terms in EVA already

Hmm... and I don't think Elfen is an english word, my translator says "Elfen Lied" = "Elves Song"

It's the same phenomenon as "engrish"...a fancy way of introducing an exotic aspect to a show..sometimes it works, and sometimes it does not. Let's face it, "engrish" almost never works and is hilarious at best...a shame actually, but hilarious nonetheless.

Well, since they are mainly using nouns for this show (episode titles etc) there's nothing much to complain about, or let's rather say they cannot screw up that much. Personally i have to say that the german titles are pretty much fitting the mood of their respective episodes so far, so again i'm rather pleased. And yes, japanese-german relationships date way back and were always rather balanced and positive (depends on the point of view, i guess).

Elves Song, Elvan Song..both translations are correct, although i would go for the latter
And finally, if i remember correctly (means i don't really want to look it up again) i think it said 13 episodes for Elfen Lied on the shows homepage..let us wait and see
