Relax, he's just asking a question.

PimpinAintEZ:

One of the best I've used is Computer Associate's eTrust Antivirus (corporate edition). It's not to be confused with eTrust EZ Antivirus which is the home version and that one is junk. In terms of "evaluating" the software, the corporate version is very difficult to find. An alternative you can try is Network Associate's McAfee Virus Scan enterprise version (corporate). Both have annual, bi-annual, and perpetual licenses. (perpetual = no more of that annual subscription bullcrap). McAfee enterprise/professional/corporate version is much easier to find.

Oh, and stay away from AVG. That's junk. It doesn't detect viruses quite well and it's very lousy at deleting them, too.

I say just get a good firewall, like ZoneAlarm, and then annually use microtreads online virusscan. I do, and i've been virus-free

Try AVG, the reviews from PC Mag said it beats out both Norton and McAfee, plus it's free.

It's not that.... It's just that people who ask for help should at least spell correctly. It gets really annoying to see everyone spelling like a 2nd grader.

Sometimes I just don't know if the human IQ is going down the drain or if we're all just too lazy to care.

He's just abbreviating, as long as you can understand it, there's nothing wrong. Besides this isn't an English class.

AVG Professional 7.0 is far from Junk; it's the best anti-viral program I've ever used. My university hands out free liceneces of Norton Corporate and McAfee Enterprise, but I don't find them adaquate. I've also tried PCCillin, and I didnt much care for it. Norton products do all sorts of bad things to Windows, and McAfee has a very large memory foot print.

AVG Professional is 33.30 USD from their website for a two year lisence, and I highly recommend it.

Another excellent, free thing you can download if you are running Windows XP, is Windows XP Service Pack 2. Although it has bugs, it'll stop you from downloading ActiveX and Java viruses from websites with its new enhanced security.

Good luck.

I dunno why you guys bash Norton, im running the corp version and its fine, generally home editions of anything are garbage, also yes if you truely want to be virus free switch to linux, i only use my windows for gaming, everything else i do mostly in linux.

I have McAffee. I dont know if it's the best but it's what they use at my job so I figured it would be good enough for me. They have a money back guarantee and I use DSL so I get updates seemingly everyday and sometimes more than once.

Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition. It's the best antivirus period.

software firewalls are next to useless. They only sit on a software layer, so if someone directly attacks the kernel directly, it won't help

They don't do anything but use up system resources. I can let you know you are no more protected with a software firewall than without one

If you want a real firewall get a linux box set up All you need is like a 386.

I run smoothwall (www.smoothwall.org) and it's the best firewall I've ever seen for home use.
