Marimite S2 Ep.10 (official thread)
Episode 10 "Kibara Chuui-hou"
Overall, the story was good. It stayed true to its novel. Perhaps 30 minutes is just the right time for such a length of a chapter. The scene at the bakery was done well, especially the little details of Yoshino eating the nut on her green-tea crepe. Too bad that Rei-sama's hair didn't get caught in the tart. Ikezawa Haruna did a good job in acting Yoshino's mind set in trying to calm her anger with vain, exploding in anger almost giving away her rosario once again. Still, I wonder if the non-novel readers would understand that episodes for last week, this week, and next three weeks are taking place simultaneously. To me, it didn't seem like the meeting at the Yamayurikai was the same one as from last week... This is the first glimpse I saw of Yoshino and Rei-sama's homes. Perhaps I had something different in mind that I had an image that their homes would be of traditional build - and I was a little surprised that they were more modern. I wonder where Hasegura's dojo is? It doesn't seem it is big enough to encompass a personal dojo. Hmm, something is missing in the scene where Yoshino throws her school shoes on the floor. In the novel Yoshino's dialogue with Yumi was with a more sarcastic tone. But still, this is a little minor place that can be overlooked. On the other hand, I believe that it still lacks the "punch" that there isn't the scene where the three second-year students sigh in melancholy in the school hallway. Tanuma Chisato cuts off her hair. Her appearance in this season with more dialogue made a good impression. Yoshino starts pondering about finding a soeur. Foreshadow of her promise with Eriko-sama, perhaps... The second half seemed a little bit at a higher pace, withdrawing some of the "spaces" between each conversation. However, it was still rounds up nicely. ....And next week, we finally get to "Rainy Blue." I am very interested in hearing how Touko-chan will make an impression to all of you in this episode... |

Well, ok, I didn't understand a thing more than Rei was very much against Yoshino jining the kendo club.
*punchs Touko* Why? Well, I'm sure she will deserve it in the next ep, by the look of the preview. SEI RETURNS!!!! XD!!! YAAAAAhR!!! JOY!! Am I wrong, or will Touko actually try to diverge a gap between Yumi and Sachiko by using the fact that Yumi and Sei are quite fond of each other? O_o *gets cane*

Hrmm.. this ep was really interesting, considering i'd recently watched eps 4 n' 5 of the first season (man, has yoshino changed a bunch.. ^^; ). But it really shows that though some parts of Yoshino's personality has changed, others definitely have not. I honestly yelled "not again!" as she reached for her rosary, only to notice that she didn't wear it that day..
Also, whenever it'll hapen, I can't wait until Yoshino enters her first kendo competition. She's already too competetive for her own good.. Quote:
I do hope that the Rainy Blue arc is all right with just one episode however.. meh.. i guess we'll justhave to wait and see. I trust the screenwriters, however. Quote:

Yes, I continue to be delighted to get my occasional fix of Marimite!
And this episode really quite surprised me, because until now I didn't like Yoshino that much. Perhaps it was because subconsciously, I realised we'd clash, but in this episode, she really reminded me of me. And I've never like Rei as much as I do now, either. Really excellent, well-constructed episode. -BonBon |

yay, more marimite, and on my birthday too! thanks, Ayu!
a nice episode, it's a little bit of salt at the beginning, and a little bit of sugar at the end. i once again was reminded how rei looks and how rei acts and thinks are two very different things. the pacing was alot better than the previous episodes, it didn't feel rushed in that short 25+ minutes of screentime. the next episode looks painful..... and does japan have a rainy season too? the last few episodes have alot of rain. or is it because they are happening simultaneously? |

I kind of picked up on the fact that they all happened in the same time frame. Just the small conversation that Noriko and the rest of the girls, it had appeared Shimako had not given her a rosary yet.

Great episode, I really dug having the opportunity to get a glimpse in the rage-fueled inner world of my beloved Yoshino. Her absolute cluelessness about how Rei felt and how she was supposed to react to it made her seem even more tomboyish than before!
Thanks to Ayu once again from me, too. |
