While I agree with you Gashapon require little space, your ": heh:" emote at the end sorta got me laughing and thrown off abit . And, those figures are....aah melting.....girls with dark stockings = a sight to behold

I'll post pictures later for my recent acquisitions.

I'll agree on the price of Gashapon
but putting 10 small figures where one 1/8 statue fits is still impossible

You do know most gashapons don't look anything like the official pics. I tend to avoid most of them since they show the prototypes and edit the pics to make them look better than they really are. Hell most aren't painted the color is molded plastic. What do you expect for under 20 bucks.

Most of the trading kit figures are a little better and a little more expensive but I hate how they are randomly packed. I either want one or two figures or a whole set. I don't want to buy several and get extras I don't need.

Still you'll never beat a staute or high end PVC figure from like GSC etc. you get what you pay for.

The trading kits are okay (now that I know what they are .. usually partial statuettes) and the gashapons are okay for little shrinettes (and I see the purpose ... they're going to sell more than the high end statues - important in small living accomodations). But I really dislike it when they don't provide decent closeups. I do not intend to waste my money on something that looks like it arrived in a McDonalds Happy Meal.

So far I haven't been dissapointed in quality, but maybe I'm lucky and/or bought
only 'quality' trading figs
My latest buy: Alter's Tsukuyomi Moon-phase figs looked like they did in the
pictures at HLJ

about useless/extra figs
I was pissed off about the CM's Macross Fig set #3
where DYRL Flightsuit Max was the chase-fig and M7 Flowergirl was standard
so now I have 2 Flightsuit figs from #1 and #2 but can kiss #3 goodbye

I Know they want to create more sales this way but I'm not buying multiple sets
for 1 figure if 4 of the included ones are already "useless" in one set

On daddicts there is a torrent for a show, which is kind of a compition show, in which each show is a different subject. The last one was: "The King of Figures!” I haven't seen it, but if it is like the other ep.s they will be "Judged" on their knowledge and ability in making figures. From the pictures on the show’s site it looks like they make their final figures from scratch. The torrent is here if anyone is interested.

Hey, my collection is taking shape nicely...

Short of the two figurines of Burst Angel, it's all Evangelion.

-A cheap Rei wounded figurine, action-figurine, gashapon sized.

-12 Gashsapons of Evangelion
-Rei and Asuka in plugsuit, shoujo-ai pose
-Rei and Asuka in plugsuits, standing pose
-Rei in ''relax'' skirt
-Asuka in her black dress
-Misato in uniform
-Maya in Uniform
-Rei and Asuka schoolgirls
-Rei and Asuka in summer wear

(Most of them are of average quality, tough....Maya and Rei in relax skirt are very nice, tough)

Two Sega figurines, high quality : Rei and Asuka as tennisgirls

Asuka in Gothic Lolita

Now, the question is, I need a Rei to finish my collection,...I saw the Gothic Rei, and I'm at unease with the chain collar...I think I will go for the Aphrodite Rei.

i like the chain....but i dont like the pose. the gothic asuka is very hot though.

i think its best to be picky with evangelion toys. they mass produce so many and lots are low quality. so take your time. most of the gashapons are well made though.

i cant believe i missed this toy :/

and the preorders for the cloth shinku are already closed... now im sad ;___;

I can see you've got some very cool figures, but then again I can barely see them. ^^; You should take some more close up photos of them.

@ ukanimemike - Hey, I have that Mokona doll too! Got it at a convention last August. It's so kawaii I also have the Maya Natsume in the last pic, though due to an accident her antenna hair broke off I'm also hoping to get a hold of that Saki (Genshiken) figure in the near future too.

As for me, I've been too lazy to snap pics of my figures so far, but I'll try to take some tomorrow or maybe over the weekend, if I can work up the effort after work or something. Here's hoping

Question: Why do you think anime figurines are worth the money? (I'm kinda referring to PVCs but I guess anything applies)

I got

yuki holding a bunny (50 freaking dollars, fkn japanese prices)
ah my goddess terzetto set
green, red, blue ver.'s of mon-sieur kirasaki's

And honestly looking back I can't figure out why I paid for these lol. =/

As long as the look good for the asking price then why not. I mean if you have a job and can afford it then buy it. Their is tons of figures I wouldn't mind owning but I only buy the ones that look the best and are of my favorite characters. As long as you don't buy them all at the same time they're quite affordable. I tend to save most of my pay check so when something nice comes along I don't have to worry about penny pinching.

If you want something just budget a portion of your saving for it keep saving till you can buy it and don't dip into for any reason. Yeah I could sell some of my figures a few are rare and hard to come by and I could get my money back and then some. Still it's a waste to me to buy something and not keep it. I don't need the money and even though they just sit their it's not like they're going to waste.

Hell my other hobby kills more of my money buying one of them, then if I where to buy a dozen figures etc. I got over 700 bucks burning a hole in my pocket that I saved, but because of the manufacturer filling a large contract order has had me waiting over 2 months. Luckly my FFL dealer said hopefully in 2-3 weeks he could process my order.

Have you guys seen this:
http://www.kotobukiya.co.jp/kotobuki...il.msp?id=4204

Probably the best face I've seen on any figurine.

Sold out in pre-order. Why don't they make more of the higher quality figures? Obviously people want them.

Here's more from the artist:
http://mitumasa.com/

koishii - I've got the Hazuki gashapon set on it's way (in pic 4). What do you think of them?

ImperialPanda.... it's just like other people collecting other things such as "stamps", "dolls", "coins", they love to collect items that will make them feel happy. For me collecting figures and anime merchandise show's my love for animes.. especially for the animes i loves.

TronDD ... i agree with you, she does has a very very human look pretty face. It's more human than anime looks ^^
