I don't know this because I didn't finish watching Seed since they didn't fansub till the end, but did Kira die? What happened to Kira?

Kira survived. His whereabouts and what he's been doing in the period between SEED and Destiny however remains unknown.

Well, if I remember correctly there was an extension of the last episode in which, after the battle in space kira was shown talking with athrun near markio's house. Not a big deal for 5 minutes of extension, though.
