I think it's crap.

You can't even use the hard drive with it. Why don't they remove a couple controller ports while they're at it?

Considering that outside Japan, only one game ever supported the HDD (FFXI) it's not that much of a loss.

There's also rumor that Sony upgraded the USB ports to USB 2.0; if this is true we may see them release an external HDD kit at some point.

Nothing has improved, gameplay/graphic/anything wise. The only thing that changed was that they included a network adapter or something? (not 100% sure though...too lazy to check )
It's like what sony did to the playstation, they made the PSone.

Bigass con: I think it'll break when I touch it...

It's 75% smaller than the regular PS2. They built in the network adaptor, and removed the internal space for the HDD. It's rumored the USB ports are now USB2.0, but this is unconfirmed.

Other than that, there's nothing new. If you've got a PS2 there's no need to get this. If you don't, this is the one you'd consider getting.

Unless you want to play a game that requires the HD. Too bad you won't be able to buy the older model unused anymore.

Again, there's only -one- game that requires the HDD outside of Japan and that's FFXI.

There are many more in Japan, so I imagine that if Sony is smart and the rumor is true, you might see sony-branded USB2.0 HDDs eventually.

And if having an internal one is really that important, you can always buy one used.
