Question?? (anime based on dating sim games)

well im lookin into a new anime and i found True Love Story and First Kiss Story which are suppost to be based off of video games or something like that. Is this true? if it is are they still worth watching even if ive never ever heard of the games?

Welcome to the world of ren'ai-kei/jun'ai-kei genre.

Yes, "True Love Story" and "First Kiss Story" are originally a ren'ai simulation games (date-sim games). The reason why you have never heard of these titles is because there probably is no market outside of Japan (more so towards the hard core otaku market) for this type of genre.

As you may or may not know, there have been an increase in animes that focuses on heart-warming love stories. Most of the time (if not all), these animes are usually based on an original game. These can be directly from:

A. A date-sim bishoujo game that was originally released on a consumer platform like the Playstation. "True Love Story," "First Kiss Story," "Sentimental Graffitti" are such examples that fall into this group.

or

B. A game whose origins come from an ero-game (or how people outside of Japan disgustingly call them "hentai games"). Titles such as "Wind ~a breath of heart~," "To Heart," "Kimi ga Nozomu Eien" are examples that fall into this group.

As for your question regarding whether you should watch it or not, that is left up to you. It is your own decision to watch it, and it is your own opinion if you like it or not. But it has been to my knowledge that most foreigners who watch such shows are rather interested in learning more about such anime that are based upon games that they do not have the ease of accessibility as we do. In a sense, it does open you up to a new genre which you might find interesting from the "norm" that the majority of viewers go after.
