Web Ghost PiPoPa
This is a fantasy show for kids, airing Sunday mornings at 8:30. But it is well done and of some general interest. The basic story is of a kid who gets sucked into the Internet world through his cellphone and meets three "Net ghosts" who live there, named Pit, Pat and Pot. They race around cyberspace avoiding a shark-like virus, etc., and Yuuta promises the three that if he is able to get back to the human world, he will still work to become the "fine Net ghost" they see he can be.
Partly because of the colors and drawing style, I feel echoes of another surprisingly entertaining kids' show, Otogijushi Akazukin. The cast is outstanding, with Satou Rina (Negi Springfield), Shiraishi Ryouko (Hayate), Arai Satomi (Kozue in Mahoraba), and Yahagi Sayuri (Karin). oHagi (Yahagi's nickname) is one of my favorites, and shows her stuff in ep1. What a voice. Kimura Shinichirou (Karin, Mahoraba) directs, and the lead writer is Yamada Yasutomo (Tsuyokiss, Venus Versus Virus, Potemayo). Animation by Studio Hibari (Kashimashi, Major, Tsuyokiss, Sumomomo Momomo). Anime News Network official site starts 6 April. at least 13 episodes.

It appears that Web Ghost PiPoPa (i.e. Net Ghost PiPoPa) will be released on Crunchyroll starting Jan 2009 (I think).

It's funny. Out of all the series, TV Tokyo chooses something that isn't quite popular overseas. I do know the series is actually impacting Pretty Cure's ratings somewhat (which is a first), so it must be doing something right. Hopefully this'll atleast get more awareness to people who haven't seen it or heard of it.
