New York surgeon Dr Hank Chien sets new Donkey Kong world record

Quote:
THE new king of Donkey Kong is a plastic surgeon who lives in Queens, New York, according to reports.

Dr Hank Chien, 35, racked up a score of 1,061,700 on the classic arcade video game, smashing the old record by 10,000 points.

Dr Chien's dazzling feat was confirmed by Twin Galaxies, the official scorer of electronic games.

The doctor, who holds a computer science and mathematics degree from Harvard University and is a graduate of Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, said the world record was a thrill.

"It's something to add to my resume and it's something I can be proud of," Dr Chien told the New York Daily News.

Dr Chien set the world record during a 2.5-hour game he started late on February 26 and ended in the early hours of February 27, after he was forced inside due to a snowstorm...
Hey, whatever passes the time, eh?

"Warner Bros. is turning Leonardo into an action-adventure hero. No, not
DiCaprio, but Da Vinci.

The studio has picked up a treatment titled "Leonardo da Vinci and the
Soldiers of Forever" from producer Adrian Askarieh, who is teaming with
Vertigo's Roy Lee and Doug Davison.

Da Vinci is best known as the painter behind "Mona Lisa" and "The Last
Supper," though he also was an inventor, engineer, architect, mathematician
among many other occupations. The project re-imagines Da Vinci as a
member of a secret society who falls headlong into a supernatural
adventure that pits the man against Biblical demons in a story involving
secret codes, lost civilizations, hidden fortresses and fallen angels. Think
"National Treasure" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark" by way of "Clash of the
Titans.""

Wowza! First they turn Dante (Dante's Inferno) into an action hero:

Now Da Vinci. I wonder if this is going to be "so stupid that it's funny"
or if it's just gonna be stupid?

I guess we can expect to see Da Vinci painting the Mona Lisa while dodging bullets.

Oh Hollywood, you so silly.

As long as there's no rioting infront of the store, I think we can just laugh at CNN for reporting on this at all. :P
I saw the segment on television the other night. The Cafferty File is typically a one or two minute segment of a short news blurb followed by a polling question for the audience. In defense of CNN, it's not like they devoted hours of coverage to this and it is still news even if it isn't of world shattering importance. As the reporter said to the last comment, they can't all be gems.

Dutch nurses' union: Care does not include sex

AMSTERDAM (Reuters) – A union representing Dutch nurses will launch a national campaign Friday against demands for sexual services by patients who claim it should be part of their standard care.

Maybe if the hospitals stock a hentai lending library, these requests will diminish?

Fair enough, I never watch CNN properly. :P

Aren't the nurses to blame in the end (at least the ones who gave in to the demands and created these expectations)? Unprofessional conduct and all that? Perhaps, this was an isolated incident where that guy must've been a real smooth talker. Though the first paragraph perhaps states it's more widespread...?

Emergency workers on the ground who had been preparing to stage a mock rescue had to deal with a real accident.

The passengers and crew escaped with only minor injuries.

"No life was lost but the aircraft was severely damaged," police spokeswoman Rita Inoma-Abbey was quoted as saying by Reuters news agency.
Oh, well... I guess that served pretty well for a test. Good job there was only minor injury though. :P

You know, those patients can still fool around the Nether regions of the nurses by dressing Dutch wives in nurse uniforms, as the end product will still be "Dutch".

British couple jailed for kissing in a Dubai restaurant

Quote:
A BRTISH couple are appealing a jail sentence after being accused of sharing a passionate kiss in a Dubai restaurant.

Cosmopolitan Dubai has the most lenient social codes in the Gulf, but authorities can still crack down on people charged with pushing the limits.

Ayman Najifi, a Briton working in Dubai, and a female tourist were arrested in November after a complaint about public kissing. They were convicted of inappropriate behaviour and other charges - bringing a month in jail.
Note the misspelling. Hopefully the editor picked that one out....but seriously....what have we come to?

OMH LOL. If the officer drew her gun, I doubt which gun will be deadlier, the guy or the cop's.

Unless they were trying to restrain him, I think she might have been standing a little too close to be in 'strikng' distance.

No guns for british police so she probably had a taser at most, which seems worse than getting shot... tasered in the privates?

Woman allegedly hits sister with toilet tank lid

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Iowa City police arrested a woman who allegedly attacked her sister with the lid of a toilet tank. Nitasha Johnson, of Iowa City, was arrested early Sunday and was charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury and interference with official acts. According to police, Johnson removed the lid and hit her sister during a fight. Authorities said the sister suffered an injured foot and finger.

Johnson was taken to the Johnson County jail. She remained in jail on Monday on a $1,500 bond. Jail officials did not know if she had hired an attorney.

Transsexual brothel fire's premature evacuation

Quote:
A NAKED man was forced to flee to a window ledge after a transsexual brothel caught on fire.

Not only did the man - it is not known if he was a client or employee - escape the burning building out the window, he was photographed by the Swiss daily newspaper Blick in all his glory.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and put out the flames, but not before the man was captured in the happy snaps, which then appeared in the paper with a confirmation of the building's use.

Markus Melzl from the Basel prosecutor's office as saying the apartment was used for the sex business.

The 33-year-old man was hospitalised after the fire on Monday afternoon, according to the paper. It said he was released that evening with light burns.
Gotta love the play on words there

The rise of lazy foods

I agree with this article, i like making my food by doing the peeling, cutting, boiling, etc all by myself since i enjoy the food that i made. The thought of knowing people are buying pre-cut, pre-peel etc food just makes me sigh about how lazy people are.
