The title of the article embellishes a little. The study that they're going off of was performed in Germany, and involved having men being shown a stream of photos. They would be presented with the photo, asked if they had already seen it, and then they would be shown another photo. The photo streams consisted of a mix of "clean" and erotic images. Men whose streams contained mostly clean images scored with 80% accuracy; men with more erotic images in their stream scored with 67% accuracy. This is based off of the news report of the article; I haven't read the materials and methods section of the actual paper.

In all seriousness, it's an interesting idea, but I wouldn't put too much into it. Depending on the finer details of candidate selection and what exactly was in the image stream, it may not mean anything at all.

The MRIs supposedly show that brain bloodflow changes to different parts of the brain on viewing "porn" (though to me it might matter what kind of porn it is ... what I call 'clinical' or 'trashy' porn actually turns me off). The article didn't say clearly but I'm guessing the short term memory changes are temporary.

I guess you're not supposed to worry about short term memories while you're hot and bothered.
