Alright then, I asked about this problem a long time ago in the signature requests page, though I didn't get an answer that helped me much. Once again, I find myself in the same predicament, so I ask for some assistance...

First off, I created this signature...

Now that's a .PNG file. When I saved the file as a .Gif...

This happened. I blame the damnable curse known as Gimp. So I ask, how can I remove the jagged/pixelated edges from curves around .Gif images? This problem has been bugging me for quite some time. I am well aware that there is a tutorial that remedies this in the first page, however that only applies to Photoshop, and I wasn't able to find options that corresponded to Gimp. If one can help me out and give me a few pointers, or direct me towards a tutorial that already solves this problem, I'd be very grateful.

^ What you need is the 'Guillotine' tool. It's also called 'Slicing' in Photoshop.

Here's a simple explanation.

What you'd need to do is 'cut' up the image into 2 parts using the guillotine. The first part should be the transparent part, so the top half of the image you posted; this then needs to be saved as a .png. The second part should be the rest of the image that does not need transparency and can therefore be saved as a .jpg. This means that you will have 2 images in your signature, although it will look like 1.

Below is my outcome by using the slice tool in Photoshop;

Right click the top and bottom areas of the sig to see that there are two images. When using this method however, you must make sure that the filesize and dimensions of the two images combined does not breach the forum limits.

Hope this helps and is understandable.

Now that is damn clever. I would never have thought of that. A very fascinating method, this will help out a lot. Thank you for your time.

23k PNG, one file only. Just in case you ever need to use it as only one file (like for example to use [sigpic]your hover text[/sigpic] tags). Edges would look smoother if you were not using 1bit alpha channel exclusively.

Give it a little glow. Right now its just a edge that goes 100% to 0% (ie. 0 or 1).

Thanks man. I'm thinking of making another tutorial for some of the smudging techniques I use.

ok so was trying to optimize this to make it AS safe, got it from about 577 to like 138.
Got rid of all the extra frames, ...pretty sure i clicked the right optimization options...I need like a mentor lmao.

Whats left to do it to get it to 50??, I was reading on deleteing background but wasnt sure how to delete it without the frames jsut jumping between them.

Also question, this was a direct rip from a video on my pc.

higher quaility and everything yet it looks better and is smaller. Am i missing something?? I know its only 2 frames smaller and its like 26Kn is that such a big difference?

Click on the Optimize Tab in the pallet (window) from the right of the main image-window, and then on the Optimized, 2-up or 4-up in the main-image-window.

You should have something like...

Spoiler for Example-Output:

examples broke ):

When it comes to the speed of animation does that effect size?

Timing? No.

Read Rikers tutorial, that will answer your question.

Select all the frames (in the Animation pallet) then in the Layer pallet make that layer visible.

Ok almost got everything down last few questions.

1. in imgready to do what you said above, the only way I've seen to select all if ctrl+clicking(which seems to be wrong and not working) is their a method i don't know of?

2. I have Vid dubb, MPC, CCCP.
lets say i wanted to take

1:59 - 2:01
from http://www.otakucenter.com/negima-16...led-t6393.html

How would i go about doing this. MPCs frame capture thing is always grey'd out, and even if it isn't I dont think it applies to web videos. Asked a few people about this and they just suggest downloading it, is that usually the only way to do this? Seems like it be a problem to find a download if its pretty old.

edit: best ive got so far was a black box with my mouse courser in it.

Okay. So, I'm trying to make a sig with a very natural feel. Peacefulish.
I want to use like a nature background, and no people in it. A little like Ganbaru-senpai's style, I want it to have a very soft feel and selective lighting perhaps, I don't know since I've never made sigs without people.

If it matters, the text is going to be either: (or I might make two)
And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
"Worthy is the Lamb"
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
"Worthy is the Lamb"

or

There's a day that's drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes

And "Chris Tomlin" somewhere since it's his song...

So if anyone has any tips/tutorials/loveliness to share I would greatly appreciate it since I have nooo idea where to start >.<

Without seeing the picture/material it's rather hard to give anyting but some general advice.
Your scenery should have only one big focus. Don't be afraid to modifie the color, either the whole sig or just a selected area ( while using a good feather for the selection).

If you go to selective desatursation, I suggest to work on 2 files, the material one where you do the selective desaturation, using the high resolution and the sig one who you choose the focus, add the brushing, texting, border etc...
