The part where Dutch mentions the Filipino navy caught me by surprise though. I was thinking, "Dude... We have a navy?"
I had a prblem with that translations, BTW.

It should'nt have been the Filipino Navy. It should have been the Philippine Navy.

Oh well, I guess you cant have everything.

Pretty nice show, BTW. I hope we get to see more of this anime.

Dude, they are pirates. I don't think they would care to be that precise as long as the meaning is understood.

I have a suggestion for the OP lyrics also, after spending hours listening and relistening:

Spoiler for Possible Lyrics:

And some parts are very questionable and have many possibilities...

Spoiler for OP Reading:

But yea... This was a hard song to work through.

Pure adrenaline and action. Read up to manga volume 4, and am very, very looking forward to the appearance of perahps the most interesting badasses amongst Anime Badasses yet. *Chuckle* Megane, umbrella spas-12, grenade curtsey... I won't bother with a spoiler since people who don't know what I'm talking won't be spoiled anyways.

Obvioiusly the way to appreciate a gritty show like this is far different than from say... Mushishi, but what the heck, I enjoyed it pretty well, I like guns too, and Rock? Can't wait to see his inner badass really emerge, though I know he'll still remain the most "civilian" member of the crew, which is fine.

Looking forward to episode 3.

Wow, Black Lagoon never fails to impress me. This is probably the only show this season where I felt that each single episode delivered even better goods than the preceeding one. I feel like a broken tape, but ep. 3 was indeed quite impressive. Better than number 2, and without any of the funny antics (like flying boats).

Spoiler for episode 3:

There really wasn't any particular whiz-bang moment, but the whole episode delivered a consistently spectacular action, both in terms of plot and animation. It's hard to believe that they're managing to up the ante every single time. Can't wait to see how they're going to top it next time! 8)

This show keeps going strong (ep 3). I'm tempted to get the manga, but I know I'll spoil the show if I did that.

Balalaika and Revi are starting to scare me.

That's the way they should be.

One is a mafia boss. The other is a pirate.

Just because we are observing the story from their point of view doesn't make them any less dangerous to society. I am glad there is no attempt to give either character a hidden "heart of gold" or other such rubbish. It would have completely ruined everything about the story setting otherwise.

You know Vallen I couldn't agree more, given their environment it's the only way for them to survive.

Ok why not just send in the magic girls to wave their wands!

I'm seeing propellers ripped off and boat smashed to bits as it hits the water like it is concrete...... but hey why put any effort into the story when people will "suspend belief" for any old crap.

What is wrong with a lucky shot from an RPG or even a Stinger missile.

Yep they scare me as well. It helps though that there voiced by well known VAs:

[A] Balalaika by Mami KOYAMA (Talia Gladys = Gundam Seed Destiny, Kycilia Zabi = Mobile Suit Gundam (TV), Karen Joshua = Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team (OAV))

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...le.php?id=1249

In hindsight though its quite amusing to think that Balalaika is my impression of what Kycilia Zabi looks after receiving a bazooka round curtesey of Char Aznable.

Or even how Talia Gladys looks after surviving the crashing of Messiah in GSD.

[B] As for Revi her VA is Megumi TOYOGUCHI (Parfet Balblair = Vandread, Miriallia Haw = Mobile Suit Gundam Seed (TV))

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...ple.php?id=794

After reading about her roles in other anime, I find it refreshing to see/ hear her be the badass in Black Lagoon.

Because then it won't be as exciting as an insane, improbable million-to-one plan?

Come on, lighten up.
This is suppose to be an action anime, so it inherited the extreme style used in blockbuster Hollywood movies. Jerry Bruckheimer would be proud.

I agree Vallen. The action in this anime kind of has that Hollywood feel to it.

The fact that Revi is shown doing acrobatics while shooting people should've been anyone's first clue that this anime has a touch of the extreme action in it. Even with gunboats jumping in midair, everything still fits. Now if there's going to be any sign of superpowers or occult mumbo jumbo in future story arcs, then maybe I'd be complaining too.

Anyway, I might as well repeat what others have said.

This anime doesnt really need action to impress me. The characters just have to keep talking like drunken sailors. I love some of these lines. Revi is probably my most favorite female animated character.

So how is Rocku gonna get with Revi? You know it's bound to happen. She's a tough bitch so I don't see how he's gonna approach her. Manga readers, spoil us
