TBH, I went "Oh shit" when I read that.

But on the other hand, a recovery that fast, I wonder if Ippo's still human... Or if he's still okay...

At this rate, it's only a matter of time before he ends like Muhammed Ali. Ali was famous for his ability to take punishment, and look where it got him.

Kamogawa's training saved Ippo again... and Takamura's advice.

Hmph. Saved him in one match, but fed him straight to Dementia pugilistica 20 years down the line.

Agreed, I called that as well.

At this point if this match drags out too long, it's huge back step on Ippo's development both as a boxer and as a character.

I rather have Ippo crossed eyed, rather than having Ali's sickness later on in life.

Ali has Parkinson's which had nothing to do with his boxing career.

Times though former boxers develop a disease like that. Freddy Roach is one example.

Anyways where's the next chapter, lets see if Ippo's neck really became strong or he's gonna be paralyzed or hospitalized.

next chapter is already translated. A 1 2 combination from the challenger but still not enough to knock him down. A counter attack starts next chapter. Too much muscle view in this chapter.

Ali has Parkinson's syndrome, not Parkinson's disease, and the syndrome can be caused by boxing injuries, though it is not clear whether this was the case for Ali or not.

Morikawa will not show the dark side of boxing, so we will not see boxers in Roach's condition or we will not see boxers in poverty and alcoholics... the only thing we got was a little mention to Don King.

I thought Nekota was forced to retire because he took too many blows to the head? I remember him warning Ippo about it.

I can't tell, since I haven't actually read the manga since right before the Randy Boy fight (I rely on you all for updates). I remember him being hospitalized at least once and being badly brutalized in at least two other matches, and he's only been boxing for a few years.

Let's see... Ippo broke his hand after Mashiba's fight but he was in good shape to fight Sendo.
Ippo was hospitalized after his fight with Date, after that, Sawamura almost defeated Ippo but in the end Ippo won. I think that Kojima's punch was the biggest that Ippo received in the manga, because he is a boxer from a higher class.

I don't think that Ippo had received too much damage in his +20 fights.

Besides, we have yet to see some boxer with problems due to boxing.

I don't remember him being hospitalized after the Date fight. I was referring to him being unconscious for three days after his fight with Volg.

Apart from Nekota, you mean? His problems were well-documented in the arc that went into their pasts.

You're correct, it was after Volg's fight, i'm sorry.

About Nekota, yes... but how can i say it... Nekota fought in an age were you didn't take any precautions. No medics, referees who didn't care about the boxers, very bad training, etc.

I was talking about boxers in her 40's or less. We've seen broken jaws, broken hands, etc... Perhaps Nekota will be the only mention about that topic.

If its just problems...

There was this guy that Sendo floored that became scared of seeing a fist after their fight.

The build up was for that last punch.

So 1 more chapter then Takamura fight, then chapters of knowing RIP Ippo's challenger
