OMG! Digimon fused with Power Rangers!!!

LOL Just saw Ep.1

They cancelled Konjiki no GashBell for this?! *Sigh* -_-
It was a little dissapointing that now the style is of generic anime instead of the typical Digimon one.
Also that weird old man with his fishing pole and the ferret Digimon, I felt like I was watching Pokemon or Rockman.EXE.

Even so, Agumon is really cute saying Aniki and all, and Jiogreymon looks cool.

Digimon rocks. And BTW, that's Kudamon on the guy's shoulder(a pipe fox) and it's Geogreymon.

Long live Digimon!!!

It was great introduction for episode one, not revealing yet much about how Digimon cross the boundary from the Digital World to the Human World.

I'm very prone to believe that Savers' plotline will resemble the quest feeling of Adventure but at the same time following Tamers dark theme nature, delivering along the way several mysteries regarding the Digimon and D.A.T.S.

There are some that suggests that Savers carries on with the timeline of the Digimon Adventure and 02 universe, because at the end 02 everyone on Earth (children and adults) have a Digimon partner.

Others are inclined that Savers follows on the same universe as Tamers did, because there were few doors out there that still connect the Digital World with the Material World.

I think for myself that Savers follows its own timeline but integrates aspects from both Adventure and Tamers.

And funny someone mention Power Rangers.
The people working at D.A.T.S. along with the Chosen selected as scouts reminds me of Power Ranger Space Patrol Delta feel.

However, seeing D.A.T.S. offices where both human and digimon coexist and work as fellow coworkes pretty much gives me the Men In Black feel.

This is much the reason why D.A.T.S. was targetting Agumon, because it was labeled as a wild Digimon that got unauthorized access to the human world.

Digimon that want to travel to the material world would need to follow some protocol by D.A.T.S. to be authorized in doing so.

I quite noticed a "deja-vu" scene with Savers OP sequence paralleling that of Tamers. It showcases Masaru, Tohma, and Yoshino's Digimon in all of their evolution forms, except that their Ultimate/Perfect and Mega/Ultimate are hidden in shadow forms.
Much like Takato, Henry, and Rika's Dgimon evolution forms were initially showcased in Tamers OP sequence.

Regardless if the theme songs sound generic, I'm pretty much like them all particularly the ED song, "One Star". Obviously, that there's going to be a second ED song midway to the series, however, there's still light years away from that.

The only complaint for me was Yoshino's voice that sounds like a posh, valley girl.
But, I will quickly get used to it sooner.

I used to love digimon season 1 and I had interests in season 2, however after that I feel the series just lost its appeal. With this new one it looks like they may return to their roots a bit which is exciting for me. I still believe the original evolution was better than the combinations. YAY for Wargreymon.

Episode two.
Spoiler:

And I was right that D.A.T.S. functions on a similar policy to M.I.B.

Digimon's pressence is kept secret from the common people's knowledge, which D.A.T.S. ensures to be it that way.

There is no English version, so no Canadian airing.

Just watched the second episode. A good one. But Masaru's mum is just too, young. And how the heck Yoshino can live in their house? Speaking of Yoshino, her digimon is weak. Defeated in her first battle (from our view). DATS also do their stuffs MIB style. They even can erase memory!!!

Good to see digimon back, but i dont really like the idea of this digimon police force or something like that. The show feels like megaman exe or something. Although i have to say the animation is much better than the old digimons.

I don't really like DATS for now. They look like they are playing around instead of serious. The Squirtlemon is funny though. For Digimon organization, I like Hypnos more. Because Yamaki rules!!!!

This Digimon series has made happy for various reasons:
1) It owns a new soundtrack set. I do not think that tracks from the previous digimon series are going to be played in Savers.
The varied score enrichs a lot the characters personalities, and the situations as the episodic plot builds up.

2) The partner Digimon have not only their personalities but also their moods and behavior properly fleshed, so as anyone can easily identify what their character tells it about.
This is no big news, since Adventure and Tamers had Digimon of individuality, however, most of those Digimon share the same mood or behave with similar manners.
For this season, we have a brash and high-spirited Agumon; a level-headed Lalamon; and a focused Gaomon.

3) Though an overly exploitated theme in other shows, Wild Digimon possessing or parasiting human hosts is something new to the animated franchise. Let's see how can they pull it through in Savers, but is an effective means for small sized Digimon to wander around undetected.

4) The Digivice IC can track Wild Digimon as a radar feature, and functioning like a Pokeball, it can digitally store the partner Digimon within it for easier transport and not raising attention.
Unlike a pokeball, the Digivice allows both human and digimon to interact with each other.
Though Agumon dislikes to be caged inside the Digivice.

What I learned from episode two was that Masaru's father has been missing for three years. I ought to hear his mother said she has been waiting for 'three' years, though the wikipedia site lists ten years as the time his father went missing.
However, that would likely create a discrepancy regarding to Chika, the little sister. She looks to me like eight or nine years old, though could be possible that Masaru's father disappeared about the time that Chika's mother became pregnant with her. I need a future episode that has Masaru properly recalling about his father to make a solid conclusion.

Masaru bringing Agumon inconspicuously to his home covered inside a card box is a reference to Tamers. Takato did the same with Guilmon in order to get him home without raising suspicions.
However, Masaru's mother and sister immediately found out, thanks to a funny slapstick moment by Masaru and Agumon, and took an immediate familiarity toward Agumon.

D.A.T.S. returns Wild Digimon by turning them into Digieggs and teleporting them via a Digital Harmonizer (teleporter) back to the Digiworld. Agumon was about to had suffered the same fate, but Masaru bailed him out in time.

It surprised me that Savers is using the natural evolution theme for some Wild Digimon, instead of the traditional digievolution; the Flymon incident can be clear example.

Personally, I think that the first arc or for most of the plot progress will be focusing in both Masaru and Agumon's individual growth and team progress, unlike the previous Digimon shows splitting screentime to explore about all the children characters.
Yoshino and Lalamon are very grown-up and know what they're doing, even Yoshino can call out her own DigiSoul to evolve Lalamon, which Masaru cannot.

It would quickly grow on me that with each passing episode features Masaru striking a Wild Digimon just to call out his DigiSoul and make Agumon evolve. I want more substance and consistency how will Masaru develop to make Agumon stronger by his own merits. Episode three could hint at a possible rivalry with Tohma and Gaomon, which would greatly help the previous two in growing experience and honing their skills.

Episode three.

Spoiler:

I'm starting to get convinced that Savers is dealing with both Masaru and Agumon's growth.

What exactly do you mean when you say the old digimon? Cause I swear the animation for Digimon Tamers was pretty sweet. Well hopefully this new current Digimon series will turn out as well as the very first one and Tamers.

Anyway, checked out the first two eps and I find myself a bit divided in opinion. While one way I'm the type that likes a character than can enjoy a fight I can't help but wonder how exactly is this series gonna do anything "new" or above the bar of what has beend done in past series.
