Some set actually got a much bigger premium if you fail to get them during the event, be it corporate set or doujinshi set (with comiket exclusive goods).
For instance, Kantoku C81 set was worth 1000 yens when I could got it, and the very next day in Mandarake, you could hardly get it below 3-5K.

That's the very reason why so many people rush the comiket with a full platoon instead of waiting the post comiket period: you will sometimes have to dish out 200-300% of the actual value or even more. That's also why so many people buy 3-5 copies or even more, so they can supply their friends who are actually dispatched on another area.
In fact, the actual number of people aiming only for resale is much lower than you might expect.

It does kind of suck having to spend 25000円 (on the item itself, not including anything else like shipping, fees etc.) on something that costed originally 12000円. Or all the other overpriced things that i "needed" to get.

By the way to understand the concept of lines, I tried to draw them on the floorplan:

After 40 Years, Has Comiket Outlived Its Usefulness?:

"after four decades, is Comiket showing its age? A piece recently
posted on Charapedia, a Japanese anime character encyclopedia,
posed this question (its title is "Has Comiket's Role Already Ended?").
The author points out that in the 1970s, aspiring manga artists needed
a venue like Comiket to incubate their creativity, meet like-minded
artists, and publicize and sell their work. But in the modern age,
conventions play less of a role in this respect, since they have been
overshadowed by the Internet. The article points to ZUN (Tōhō
Project), Type-Moon (The Garden of Sinners, Fate/stay night) and
Ryūkishi07 (When They Cry - Higurashi, Umineko When They Cry) as
example of creators who were launched to fame and fortune through
the Internet.

The author also discusses how fan culture has morphed beyond
Comiket's fixation on dōjinshi fans may create and share their own
video games, music, videos and more online."

Is Comiket becoming obsolete?

Too much oversimplification in that article.

Comi is best understood as a place where everyone including plenty of established companies, not to mention big name creators, go to sell stuff. Saying it's only doujin works is grossly inaccurate

And like any other convention, ascribing only one role to it is rather...off

And still, ZUN and bigtime authors always return to Comiket to show their latest works.
The article probably didn't cover the fact that Comiket, aside from being a commercial convention, is a community-based event where creators old and new meet and greet, just like when it was founded.

People becoming famous on the Internet doesn't give them an excuse to not go outside for a bit.

That's why.... conventions have multiple purposes. One being to be a place where people can convene
