Size Limitations

I'm not sure where to post this so I'll post here.

Is there any possible way to make the size of an image smaller (in terms of space) without reducing the the overall resolution of it?

With the JPEG format, you can mess with the compression to reduce overall size. This does muck with "resolution" somewhat, but if you're careful, it's completely unnoticeable. JPEG is a compressed format so it's always best to set the compression that you want the first time. Each time you edit a JPG and resave it as as JPG, the file degrades. However, you can do 2 or 3 re-compressions on a JPG and not really notice it.

Example:

Here's an image that's originally 85,385 bytes:

By increasing the JPG compression just by a few "ticks", you can reduce that down to 47227 bytes:

The reduction is complexly unnoticeable to the human eye. It's still 24 bit, full color and rocks just like the original. Is that what you're looking for? Hope that helps. Cheers.
