Actually, Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria is actually a prequel. Go figure? I guess we can find out who saved Lenneth from a life of slavery (I haven't beaten VP 1 so maybe that was answered). Meh.

If you mean:

Spoiler for VP1:

I just VP:Lenneth myself, but it requires the 2.6 firmware and it won't update unless the battery is charged so I'll have to wait an hour or so.. Bah!

AFAIK, Silmeria comes out in 9.26.06.
Another thing I read from GFaqs is that Alicia apparently is gonna be voiced by Jennifer Sekiguchi, though I think I'll still stick with Jap despite having a hard time navigating through the accessories. Hrist / Ahly's voice is reall smexy, and so is Lezard's. *_*

man....I cannot wait to get Valkyrie's Profile 2 for PS2. I really liked the first game, and hopefully the second will be just as great!

Right about now, I am leaning on recommending playing through VP: Lenneth first before going through VP: Silmeria.
Spoiler for Not really a spoiler but may generate some thoughts while playing the game which might break it for you.:
Seraphic Gate photon puzzles are nasty. >< I spent around 30m-1h yesterday doing just one. xD Glad I'm only down with the last floor of jump puzzles.

A note on Einferia. Releasing Einferia will produce a number of stat boosting items that are proportional to the equipment they have when you released them. That means, the later you release them, the more items they give since you'll have access to much stronger items. However, when you release them early, they can also give out some items when you talk to them in towns. It will also make the main game easier definitely since you become much stronger earlier by using the stat boosts. For those looking out for a perfect file of sorts though, keeping them until SG is essential to reach the 7m damage on an ougi's ONE HIT damage. That is with extreme stat boosts though (read: beat SG 20++ times) and extreme setup and preparation.

Check out the english intro for Valkyrie Profile 2
http://media.ps2.ign.com/media/788/788661/vids_1.html

The voice acting sounds quite promising.

I think I'm gonna preorder soon, this game is gonna be great.

VP:S JP is single layer. If it's dual layer, then I hope it's the JP audio track. ^^

Well its here, plan on getting my copy later today . Gotten pretty good reviews. Looks like the major cons to the reviewers are character development (bummer) and difficulty (pansies). Can't wait to see it in all its glory. I hope it has the same kinda dark feel of the original even though your party isnt made up of dead people .

Well, from what I understand, your party is made up of a mixture of both undead (re: not dead, a.k.a. the living) and some dead...the difference mainly being in how you recruit them.

I called a few game stores in my area yesterday, and they all told me it would be at least another week before the game lands here in Mexico.

This is going to be a very long week indeed.

After watching some more trailers and some opening cutscenes on YouTube... I kicked myself for not buying VP2-JP while in Japan over the summer... as someone said Ari's voice is too good ;;

^ Yup, and don't forget to include Koyasu's amazing job for Lezard Valeth.

I haven't heard the Eng voices outside of the opening, but I think it's safe to say the Eng VAs did a nice job. Probably not as good as Jap voices, but good.

I'm picking up Silmeria on the weekend for ungodly amounts of money. Luckily I got a gift card for my birthday to help. Also Takehito Koyasu and not awesome will probably never happen. The guy is multi-talented as an author, musician, voice actor and script writer, and he has a cool voice.

On the subject of the english voices in the intro.. Hrist voice is the same one as Lenneth's from the first game, no?

Flame Launcher, Flame Launcher, Flame Launcher, *Gun To My Head* Flame Laucher, *Pulls the Trigger just as Opera runs out of MP*, Why Me! OUUUUUUUCH! (Referring to my Eardrums naturally)!

Well I played some Silmeria today and got to see Total Schizo (Alicia) recruit a handsome young fellow named Rufus who brushed of Alicia after about a minute of her babbling and then Silmeria took over for about 10 seconds and basically said "You there, join me!" and Rufus was like "Sounds good". Well then time to gain some levels because 100 HP is balls.

Playing VP1 cause I want to have the background before playing VP2. But holy *&%^ it's actually a great game, even by today's standards imo. I've never played it before. I have played magna carta, shadow hearts, legend of dragoon, etc etc, lots of rpgs, and hey wow this is still pretty original lol.

I love freya's sprite sheet, it ascends all levels of awesomeness. =D

The translation is kinda reminiscent of 1990's mediocrocity tho.

Square-Enix is a complete failure.
The Voices for the most part are horrible.

Lezard sounds lame, the Japanese voice is strong and evil, the VP1 voice was insane and evil.

Arngrim sounds more like some thug than a real man / berserker like in VP1, even his Japanese voice sounds great, but English? Failure.

Square-Enix sucks. If only Tri-Ace could be their own publisher and have an American division.
