Well in the Macross Frontier manga Sheryl is said to be second only to Mylene Jenius as the most beautiful voice in the galaxy.

Yeah, I don't recall Mylene in the series being especially impressive. (But that may be due to be being overshadowed by Basara and not having particularly memorable songs). But who knows, she may have improved greatly over the years.

IMO, Sheryl is a way better singer than Mylene ever was back then.

...since Mylene started out at just above where Ranka started its rather easy to see she goes on to do more songs and what not , but again Sheryl is at a mid point in her career so comparing the anime versions of them is a bit silly since Mylene is pretty much "Ranka" in M7 while Brasara is not only the lead singer(Sheryl) but lead character as well.

Kimi ni todoke was a great Mylene song... Dakedo baby, few others. Of course, Planet Dance (and every so often Totsugeki Love Heart) was the song they ALWAYS played when they flew out into space so it's hard to focus on much else. Then again I was kind of partial to Mylene/Chie Kajiura's stuff.

I didn't think Mylene was all that great, either. I did not like her character as much as I did Sheryl, moreover, her songs were mostly overwhelmed by Basara. Its sad, but we never really get to listen to her solo much.

Hmmm...good point. Would have been nice if she had more solos besides Remember 16, Sweet Fantasy and there was this other song that I can't remember...in fact it was used as one of the ending songs.

Was it something like.."dakedo baby" or something??? EDIT: Woops! Didn't see the post above so I guess that confirms it is Dakedo Baby. Sorry about that!

I actually REALLY like Emilia's vocals....her duet with with Basara in 'Heart and Soul' was pretty powerful in my opinion....hm, wish she had some spin off show LOL!

Yeah, speaking of which, I don't care who Mylene loves. Basara and Emilia had more chemistry in one OVA than Mylene in 49 TV episodes + all the OVAs put together.

Those two make a great match, besides, Emilia is hotter.

I agree wholeheartedly. It seemed like Basara was quite taken by her presence and vocals. They really connected.

Makes me wonder...has anyone here read any of the Macross 7 Trash Manga? How much of it is relevant to the anime series? Or is it an AU???

I was planning on picking those up the other day but needed to get some opinions. Is it worth the investment? Is any of the Jenius sisters even mentioned? LOL

Macross Trash is not AU, and the setting is city 7, but very little about existing characters in the TV. None of the other Jenius sisters were mentioned.

Hell, I wonder what happened to the rest of the Jenius sisters. We've only seen Komilia, Emilia and Mylene in addition to that one they adopted in M3. Beyond that, nada, nope, nothing.

I loved how she went in for the macro on micro kiss... I can't think of another time that's happened (although there's the strong possibility with Michael and Klan Klan).

lone_wolf - I haven't read M7 Trash but everything I've heard is that aside from taking place in City 7 and Battle 7 at the same time there's not much else in common. I'm honestly more intrigued by Mylene Beat, I've heard it explains some more about the Dynamite 7 backstory.

Ah! Thanks for the info, stray! I'll try to find those

PS: Do you know the publisher of 'Mylene Beat'? Sorry for asking.

Kadokawa Comics it looks like? There's a full size cover and a writeup at http://www.macross.co.uk/77077/mac7-dyna/mylenebeat.asp

edit - if you've never seen Dynamite 7 you may want to skip these details... for that matter it kind of explains why D7 just felt so... off to me.

Well I just read Macross 7 Trash vol 1.

The story is about the Black Bomber Siva who is the star of the air blading sport T-Crush.

The military due to constant loss of VF-11 grunts thinks out of the box and tries to recruit from the sport.

Thing is Siva, a guy, is perceived not only a genius but a Jenius by blood.

Siva is rumoured to be Maximillian Jenius' illegitemate son.

I find it hard to believe that Max can cheat on Millia.

Then again this was the guy that's a little flirty in with the bridge controller in the games and when asleep bridge bunnies would likely take advantage of.

But this might explain the marriage separation during M7.

Max brought the kid into the fleet and is finacially supporting him.

So far it seems Mylene is unaware that she could have an oniichan. Six blood related sisters and adopted sister yes, a half brother no.

There's also a love triangle brewing with a 15 year old Minmay aspirant and a 27 year old military ex-pilot whose life was saved by Siva.

What the heck?! Ugh...I really hope it's just a rumor LOL. I too find it difficult to believe he cheated....hmmm...now you got me curious. I think I may purchase this manga afterall.

Oh...I can see this as a possibility. Perhaps a drunken night after a painful argument with Miria.

Odd though...I kind of liked the idea of Max and Miria just having daughters...this is certainly different but very interesting.

Ah of course....what's Macross without the triangles LOL!

Thanks for the information, ReddyRedWolf!

He obviously won't, because if he did... the consequences will be severe

Oh well either Max has slowed down in his age or Millia has improved her knife skills.

Damn that's scary! Now she knows what those things between a guys legs are for.

Though I have to wonder if Millia curses Max every time she goes into labor.

Millia must have the most maternal leaves in UN Spacy's history.

I don't think Millia would be satisfied with just a "divorce" if Max cheated on her let alone have a kid with another woman.

The rumor mill also said that Basara was Hikaru/Minmei's son too so I wouldn't take too much stock in the M7 tabloid fodder.
