How can I compress files for dvd to fit more on disk??

Hi Folks,
I went out and got a dvd burner installed into my computer on the advice of the folks here. I did this because
1. I wanted to watch the anime on my regular television
2. Supposedly you could fit way more episodes on a dvd than regular cd!!

Well on number 2 that isnt the case! I can only fit maybe 4 episodes if even that on a dvd!!!!!
So... im lost and shocked! I was thinking I could take a 12 episode sieries and fit it onto 2 disks!
So can you compress the dvd files somehow?? I mean who got this crazy arse idea that Dvd fits more?????
Mad!

Um this isnt a conversion question and it doesnt have anything to do with the sticky about sp2 and this isnt about getting files from IRC..

what sticky are you talking about?

Nero converts the files just fine no problems there. I have no clue what sp2 is cause I can download the files and play them back with no problems...
I dont go on irc to download...

Please tell me what sticky you are talking about.

Research. Of course a DVD can fit more files in it than a CD does.

Even if you HAD a DVD burner (software), you also have to have the hardware for it for you to ultimately burn a DVD.

1) This is a forum. Don't expect answers within 15 minutes.

2) Have another look at the sticky threads, like er... one with "DVD" in the title?

3) Wat you ideally need to do is set the bitrate for DVD conversion really low, like 2000 Kbps per episode
(of course whether you can specify this is another matter...)

Using 2000 Kbps/episode (or slightly lower) you might be able to fit 10 or slightly more eps per disc.

4) With Nero you can always burn fansubs as DATA disc, in which case you can fit
up to 26 episodes on a disc, depending on the average filesize. Of course only
DivX-compatbile DVD players can play such discs (and PC's of course)

Buy a Divx DVD player
Encode the files into DIVX files
You can easily fit many eps on 1 DVD
