Wow, thanks a lot for the link. ^^ Added a lot of insight to my understanding of the movie.

... I left this movie sitting on my comp, collecting dust, for about 1.2 years now...

Finally managed to watch it today, @ 3AM, and... Oh hell... What a nice piece of art.
Everything about it is perfect, even if the characters end up heartbroken here and there... I sympathized and understood every bit of feeling that this story trew at me - most of those situations happened to me and to people I know, to some degree - and, well, it's impossible to describe how refreshing it is to see those feelings, pains, aches... Condensed so masterfully onto a 63min movie that makes you wonder about your past and future, the people that you once knew and the ones that you are about to know.

Right now I feel a little bit sad, as I just remembered my first love, that ended prematurely due to distance and both parts trying to be strong and sacrifice for the other's welfare... But oh well, without pain I wouldn't have learnt to enjoy every scrap of happiness that is thrown at me from above, now and then.

Hmm... rewatched it again. I still feel captivated by it.
I would just like to be a freak and analyze the movie deeper.

During the song in the montage, there's a verse that says, "The throbbing that suddenly stopped."
Is that supposed to be representative of something???

Also, in the last seconds, "the girl at the railroad" turns around, but then the trains cut off the view. Do you think the animators might have put extra detail into it and put a figure walking away underneath?

...what do you think happened in Akari's life the time Takaki hadn't seen her?

I watched this movie recently, and I hate to say it, but I didn't really like it too well. The art and animation were both absolutely gorgeous, but I just couldn't find Takaki or his relationship with Akari believable in the least. That hurt my ability to really get into the movie.

This is one of my all-time favorite movies. I found it really compelling when I saw it and am still mesmerized by it from memory tbh.

i thought it was extremely boring -.-
the first part was nicely done and i took a liking to it, but the 'no talking, lets look at the scenery for another hour' does not appeal to me
and so i thought that the other two parts were a complete waste of my time

i was in complete awe of the animation style and thats why i finished the movie
but i doubt i will ever see another slow paced anime again

edit: ive read the plot summary on wiki and ive come to a much clearer understanding
im gonna rewatch and surely not fall asleep like the first time i watched it

Sigh I dont understand the hype about this one, it was pretty average. Why do I get the feeling that most people who really really like this anime are just lost their contact with reality :P

Just watched this and feeling quite sick...literally. I've had a fairly mobile life but I'm always slow to adapt, and find letting go to be a very hard task - not a good combination!

While it is perfectly natural and realistic for old, close bonds to fade away, I just cannot help feel a sense of sadness to it.

"Too realistic" is what I could think of...but that was the intention of the film and makes it good I guess.

i like this one, no big important happenings but the show managed to keep me watching

i think because many of us have similar experience, that is why we can feel the sadness of the story

also the show may want to encourage us that life goes on... yeah i guess

This movie was average but the ending was fantastic. It was sad and the novel goes further into detail and in the novel it tells you what they wrote in the letters the day they met and kissed for the last time. It was sad but stuff like this happens alot. Long distance relationships almost never work out and she was the one that stopped contacting him, he always waited for her...and he dated quite alot of girls in the novel after but it never worked out.

is it just me or did anyone else feel that the guy owned himself by losing the letter and that was supposed to be the 'key'

but personally for me it's hard to believe that someone could hold onto their feelings for 10+ years like that. i mean he should have changed completely but it doesn't seem like it
