Kanon 2006 (Generic Discussion)

As expected this one's gonna be a blast! might end up being one of the best anime this year. just can't seem to wait for it T.T

Bought the Kanon Prelude DVD just now.

Upon looking a the opening sequence, I was convinced this was made in HD (which was later confirmed in the interview with the character designer/general animation supervisor, Ikeda Kazumi), something I couldn't make our during the screening event.

The DVD is composed of the non-credited OP and ED songs, the aforementioned interview, and four promotional trailers. Of the trailers, the first three are 1-1.5 minutes long, which have been previously shown on the net, but the fourth one is almost 4 minutes long, complete with diagloue with excerpts from several episodes, which is somewhat spoilerish.

The DVD comes with a mini calendar and a nice booklet introducing the characters and staff, a good purchase for the price.

Can't wait until October.

^If so, then Kanon 2006 will probably be released as a full HD Blu-ray release.

Unlike AIR's 'HD' Blu-ray release, which unfornately was just a upsized version from a lower resolution.

It has some very sad parts and some very happy parts ... kind of depends on which characters you get attached to...

What about the spoilerish trailer? Does it seem like it's gonna keep the same plot?

So far the speculation based on the shreds we've seen ... I suspect mostly the same plot but with expanded stories for each arc. But then its still quite possible they may re-arc the solution just to mess with the forsaken.

Whoosh, late to this thread.

Reading 22 pages took some time, and man... Mai gets no love. Images aside, I can count the number of Mai-fanboying posts on my hands... with the thumbs chopped off.

And not until page 20 did somebody propose the possibility of a Yuuichi&Mai ending. Yes, yes, I know. 0.0001^99e% chance of that happening, given the masses' opinion, marketing decisions and apparent story direction in the trailers and previews.

Still, it is amusing to entertain the thought of it happening, if only to see the general reaction from the fans that could rival that of the Canvas2 ending.

On a more serious note, I am really looking forward to the start of this series. I enjoyed Toei's version of Kanon, and the thought of KyoAni doing it even better gives me the warm fuzzies.

Also... given the action choreography in FMP:TSR, I am REALLY looking forward to Mai's action scenes.

Any betters on SHaruhi's Asakura parodies based on the Mai sword scenes? Think about it. Both of them have Sugita Tomokazu. Both have blades involved. Both Mai and Asakura have blue hair. Both male leads go "WTF is going on?!?!" And yeah, both are alone in school after school hours.

Well I can safely say that was the prettiest piece of animation I've ever seen in my life. The OP is just mindblowing, the fourth promo clip even more so and the ED is pretty amazing too. Especially that one shot where Ayu appears and turns round, my mouth genuinely fell open about then. Can't wait to watch it on the DVD (mine was shipped a few hours ago after being ordered in June Should get it Tuesday) then for October... it seems so far away

Anyone fancy making some Ayu or Shiori avatars? >_>

O dear god... the Opening was a trip down memory lane. I was starting to get sad all over again. This time KyoAni really isn't holding anything back are they... I remember all those scenes >< and they've never looked as good as today. The only thing needed is to add in the girl's famous quotations... such as "yakusoku, dayo".

and... I really, really picture Kyon and not Yuiichi for some reason like darkchibi. Ironically the "Melancholy of Aizawa Yuiichi" is fitting of a description. Kyon just bleeds through even in the preview.

They have the same VA, Sugita Tomokazu.

Guy is building up a formidable resume as the go-to VA for likable male leads in anime.

The real creeps here is that his sarcasm is fully intact ><. When Makoto lashes out at Yuiichi I am thinking... "so there's the Haruhi Tsukkomi". Yuiichi shows his wits while Kyon let it seeps through his narriation. This is why...
(besides, KyoAni's trademark designs are everywhere in Kanon)
