Well I have to agree, it does make us see Yuiichi differently... let's see. Typical Kyonspeak...

It is morning now. That woman won't wake up no matter how many alarm clocks she invests into. Frankly, one is too many for my liking. She will wakeup however, sooner or later, in a panic as par usual.
The snow seems to fall endlessly, giving a picturesque setting that quickly turns into dread the moment you step out of the door. Nature is cruel at times, for creating something so beautiful and yet so inhospitable.
There is one thing that makes me glad of waking up bright and early, and that is to escape the clutches of that Makoto. She cuddles to her quilt and pillow, safely in her den during morning without fail so long as I leave the peace undisturbed. Sigh, why is it that I have to watch my back even over here of all places?
"Yuiichi-san, ohayo! Breakfest is almost ready."
Akiko-san, ever so vilgilant, must have already cooked the meal and needs only a few minutes to set the table.
"Thank you! Do you need any help?"
"No, just checkup on Nayuki. She told me that she has club activities today so she has to..."
I knew it. She has to go early.

There is no "first season". Kyoani's Kanon is a remake. And from the looks of it, they're more than ready to blast the Toei version into the dark history book.

If you haven't watched Toei's attempt, don't watch it. If anything count yourself lucky this'll be your first experience of Kanon, I'd love it to be mine

In graphical concepts yes, but in story concepts.....*glup* I just hope they add extra stuff and keep the main plot as it is >.<;

Toei's Kanon was well known for Jay Leno chin... and best to be forgotten. (I am a Toei Kanon survivor). Story wise I don't think it does enough justice as I felt terribly rushed and didn't have time to let everything sink in at all.
Now Toei... please, PLEASE don't mess up clannad.
With that out of my system... I noticed KyoAni's improvements with Kanon CG effects wise. The coloration and tone seems to be softer too. The grass now has higher detail than ever. Design wise though the two share alot in common. I have to say though... AIR is the highpoint in any anime that I have seen when it comes to capturing the sense of 'dog days of summer' and their standard is such that any given point gives that immersion. I hope Kanon will be the same too outside of the OP. (I expect this anime to burn holes in my retina as sunny day under snowy terrain does in reallife)

The question isn't 'will they mess up Clannad?'. The question is how they'll mess up Clannad :/ They didn't do a very good job of Air, and Clannad is muuuch longer.

Yeah i've seen many of their works but still, it could just happen in the last minute that they'll go like "hey let's try something new". I've seen things happen like that alot T.T
Kanon is too great now, it'll either rock or suck....let's hope KyoAni know how to play the guitar

Toei AIR did look alot better than Kanon but that's a movie ><. They oversimplified AIR to a grotesque state imo. (AIR the anime looks every bit as good and the movie makes Misuzu out of character... lighting effect is better with higher contrast in movie but KyoAni's designs are more lucid and doesn't make me squint to watch it. AIR movie's design I didn't find anymore attractive. So many characters pivotal in AIR anime are just blatently ignored...)

Oh man, so tired.

I just subbed the Prelude, with karaoke et. al, solo job. Please enjoy!

*pokes Sushi-Y*

If you're willing to translate this series, I wouldn't mind subbing the entire thing at all. I think I got the hang of karaoke + subbing + timing now.

Definitely don't watch Toei's Kanon. It would be a spoiler for this Kanon.

Didn't you guys think that showing Ayu with wings in the OP was spoilerish? Or is it that everyone knows the story now so they feel that they don't need to worry about that?

So whose going to sub Kanon besides velocity7?

Given the popularity of Kanon, I'd be surprised if a couple of groups didn't sub it. I guess we'll find out nearer the time.

Girls with angelic wings are a dime a dozen in anime. Innocent Venus has Sana with angelic wings in the OP, and I haven't got a clue on its' symbolism/meaning.

Kanon the anime's being true to the game. In the game the wings are also in the opening. Going any deeper would be spoiling people... (I wasn't expecting to see those that have not witnessed the Toei or the very first Kanon here).

lol if I take up any more translation jobs, I might as well quit life.

I remember the big boss over at AQS mentioned that Kanon is going to be their fall fansub project, so I'm sure you'll see something from them.

I'm not very familiar with fansub groups since I don't watch them, but I'm sure after the success of AIR and Suzumiya Haruhi, there will be a lot of groups looking to work on this anime. After all, Kyoani and Key are practically gods to tens of thousands of people, inside and outside Japan. "heh:
