Zegapain reminds more of Interlude then NGE or Aquarion. You have basically 2 worlds, 1 fake and 1 real. The fake world is where most of the people and the real world is almost destory.

I've never seen Aquarion Age, so Zegapain is kind of fresh to me and I'm really liking it so far. It's actually my favorite among all the new shows that just recently came out.

Yeah, it's one of my favorites this season too, although I have no clue why. It seems so generic and I hate mecha as a rule, but for some reason I really look forward to every new episode.

FYI tyranimo and others are referring to Sousei No Aquarion. Aquarian Age is something else entirely...

Yeah I'm enjoying it too; it's a bit of sleeper hit it seems.

Ryoko's seiyu

I really enjoy the voice actress for Ryoko Kaminagi and was amazed that ANN listed her D.O.B as 1989. Is Zegapain her first major role? Her voice sounds very familiar.

It is her first major role I think. She's was also in Dai Mahou Touge in a small role (Potaru). According to her site she seems to have done a fair amount of TV work (non-anime)...

Ep.5 raw is out btw

Huh? Episode five isn't supposed to have aired yet though.... What's going on...?

Edit: No, they just labeled the episode wrong. It's actually episode 4 in HDTV, not episode 5 (which airs in ~8 hours from now).

Zegapain's earliest airing is 18:00 JST (aka. 6PM) Thursday primetime on several channels (TV Tokyo, TV Aichi, TV Osaka, TV Setouchi). It's not quite that time yet (another 8 hours), which is why I was right to suspect that something was fishy.

I guess this is what raw groups get when they don't QC the episodes before releasing them and rely on the filename the japanese put in.

Episode 6 had some shocking revelations, this is the best episode up to now(only because the other ones were sub-par).

What is the significance of butterflies in Japan? Shizuno said "These two worlds are a "Butterfly Dream" in the preview to episode 5, and I remember Rahxephon had a quote that goes something like "Does it matter if you're dreaming of the butterfly or if the butterfly is dreaming of you?"

I'm just curious since I see a lot of butterfly symbolism these days...

@nixie: Those are both references to the poem that Omniscient discussed on Random Curiosity. Go there for info.

Spoiler for ep07:

BTW the OP & ED are released this week. Wednesday to be precise. Though it'll probably be a week before my pre-orders arrive from Japan. The soundtrack is released on 28/06/06. I hope it includes the piano pieces played in the recent eps during the Kyou/Ryoko scenes.

Damn it, this is my favorite show of the new year, and either the subbing has stopped or it's been painfully slow. I really wanted to wait for sub eps, but I decided to d/l raws because of the wait. I hope Megami or whoever is still working on this series.

Megami are still subbing Zegapain AFAIK. They've done good work on it so far. We must be patient.

Zegapain does deserve more attention than it's getting. With this season as saturated as it is it's inevitable that some series get left by the wayside.
