Geneon just finished showing clips of their new acquisition. Most titles they acquire this time are live action movies. Good to hear that they got paradise kiss.

Next panel is Funimation.

Bandai Visual are releasing GUNBUSTER and WINGS OF REAN

Out of all the companies so far, Bandai Visual have been the most impressive so far.

And when they showed episode 1, they translated every tiny bit of text on the screen. It was almost impossible to watch with the dvd-style text popping up everywhere all the time. Got a good laugh from the audience though.

It's funny that Geneon would get ParaKiss while Funi got Beck considering their similarities and being drawn by the same guy...As for Black Lagoon it think it was beyond obvious that it would get licensed by Geneon...

I don't know about the universe you inhabit but for the rest of us Beck and Paradise Kiss are drawn/written by two very different people (in both story and art style).

Paradise Kiss by Ai Yazawa (female)
Beck by Harold Sakuishi (male)

Hmmm...I thought Beck, ParaKiss, and Nana were all drawn by the same person...Guess i was wrong, I could have sworn Yazawa had something to do with Beck, plus alot of the same visual techniques in Beck are found in Parakiss...Why the hell do I feel so strongly I am not wrong eventhough I clearly am?? Thank God the great xris was around to so quickly correct my mistake...

Hmm. The PPD license sounds like finally something I really really want*! (and will buy the singles from)
I hope ADV won't wait to long with the first DVD.

*) Due to budget restrains I haven't been buying many DVDs lately, and anything I do buy has to be high quality stuff...

As for the other licenses -- they have been pretty obvious. And fortunately now all of
the C&D "licenses" by Funimation from last December have finally been formally announced.

Now if only we can get a proper confirmation on AMG 2nd Season (we marked it as licensed based
on one source, but so far no-one else seems to have confirmed it yet -- but hopefully soon).

In the manga department I'm quite surprised some company licensed Kodomo no Jikan.
The contents of that manga is rather... "politically incorrect" and I have no clue how they'll
manage to publish that in the US without doing edits or "mistranslations". For those who wonder
what I'm talking about, see this blog post: http://matthew.animeblogger.net/arch...ikan_vol_1.php

Well you're not entirely off; check the first 3 credits under "Japanese Staff" on ANN:

ParaKiss - http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/ency...me.php?id=5081

^Kobayashi is the link...I thought I was going insane because I knew there was a connection between those 2 series...That's the reason they have many similiarities...The background animations and scene-changing techniques are definatley similiar...Since it says he came up with animated scenerios for each show it would seem as if I do exist in the same universe as xris...Imagine that ...

Thanx Pro...

Excellent. Actually, I think this show fits very will with ADV. I'm glad they decided to pick it up. I look forward to picking this up as well.

Wow...so many good shows going to DVD. Time to make some more shelves.

Today should bring many more R1 dvd pickups. I can't wait for Gunbuster...and I'm definitely getting Black Lagoon and PPD. Bandai, ADV's main event, TRSI, and Viz have their big moments today.

Ergo Proxy was no surprised but a very nice confirmation. The Japanese disks have very cleaned up and even a bit different scenes than the broadcast versions. I am highly anticipating this release.

And Full Metal Panic 2 - one of the best directed, written, and animated shows - ever. Shame it was a follow up to two other series in the story: FMP 1 (the inconsistent original) and Fumoffu (where the main characters get lobotomies). It being a sequal seemed to really turn people off.
