What are uploads for, when downloading anime? Although i know on animesuki that it says to leave torrent open for as long as possible but what for?

Is uploading like a form of letting others download off of you so that your not selfish and don't share? like the share ratio thing?

The uploading with torrents is so that others can download.

Don't worry, with torrents you only upload from the active torrents. No other files are sent.
