Heads up that I have continued The Secret Life of Syn. I'll be continuing it in the thread in Fan Creation sub-forums that is linked in my sig. Hope people continue to like it. And keep comments/posts related to that in its thread itself. I don't want to take attention away from what this thread was created for.

And on parents - yes, they can be rather overbearing when it comes to who they think their offspring should be with. Know when to kick you heels and when they are trying to look out for you. And if they're not looking out for at all - stick it to them.

Eh? Evaluate our reasons? I'm not hundred percent sure what exactly you mean, but thank you. I'm hoping the abroad idea will work out well enough.

No need to apologize! I wish you the best of luck in sorting out your problems, really! Life can be crazy sometimes.

Obviously, your folks are getting on your last nerve, but I'd say that it helps to gradually ease them into the situation and let them get used to it. Obviously sooner or later you will have to be honest with them and tell them that this is for real, but in spite of it all they seem to have good intentions at heart.
Curse them indeed! But nah, I love them, really. They just can be frustrating, as you've said. My plan is to slowly chip away their resistance, so hopefully that'll get me somewhere soon enough! They really do just want the best for me, and I'm sure trusting a strange British man currently attending university in Wales is a bit hard for them.

Gotta' love Indian parents, eh? It makes me laugh how adamant they can be about marrying a fellow Indian!~ But aaww, that made me grin. Haha, thank you! I think the same way!

Haha, will do my best with that. I've never gone against them before, so it's a little difficult. Hopefully I'll be able to convince them otherwise in due time.

Thanks again, everyone!

Anyone else ever experience 'moteki'? It's apparently some phenomenon that the Japanese believe happens to a person 3 times in his or her life. Each time it happens, the person suddenly becomes very popular for an amount of time (not sure how long).

Never heard of it. I don't really believe in those sort of things.

Every summer it's the bikini and t-shirt.

Every autumn it's the boots and belt.

Every winter it's the scarf and sweater.

Yeah, it's amazing, when that snow melts women's attractiveness increases to over 9000!

Man, if only it was a bit warmer here in Ireland. Girls always have to wear leggings with their skirts .

Does this make me sound pervy .

I guess that's one of the trade-offs for living in the desert; nobody wants to where much of anything. Yet, the heat really does get to me.

Heh, can't beat a beard.

Beards rock . It's like I suddenly seem 10 times wiser. How can a man live without it?

Greek quote: There are only two types of people that do not wear beards, Boys and Women, and I am neither.

Beards are the ultimate in manliness.

I forget which tale it was, but in one of the Arthurian stories, women are gossiping, and one thing said was "Kissing a man without a beard is like kissing a lady."

I dunno, I've noticed most men tend to also like seeing women in jeans.

Damn straight!

Another quote:

Leonato: You may light on a husband that hath no beard.
Beatrice: What should I do with him? Dress him in my apparel and make him my waiting-gentlewoman? He that hath a beard is more than a youth, and he that hath no beard is less than a man: and he that is more than a youth is not for me, and he that is less than a man, I am not for him... -William Shakespeare Excerpt from Much Ado About Nothing Act 2, Scene I

Don't all you guys and gals agree that beards are magnificent?

Actually, I don't like beards on a man, to be honest.

Then you're not a REAL Man. But really RadiantBeam doesn't know what she's missing. Beards are just so cool. You can do the chin stroke thing when you're thinking. It's amazing!

And if your man has a beard, you can do it for him! It's like stroking a cat. Well it's a bit more... bristly. But you get the picture!

They're also a really convenient place to store stuff when they get a bit longer.

Me I store my pencils and pens in it. So convenient.

Good tight jeans that make your ass look great? Oh yeah, I've got plenty of that magic, too. Skirts are just way more comfortable.
