So in the end................ what was the egg for. It seems a bit open ended. After reading the chapter through and through again, I've come up with two theories:
1. When in the shop, time becomes very slow which would make Watanuki say he's been a hundred years there.
2. Doumeki died and the one Watanuki's talking to is Doumeki in a dream.

Both theories have some holes I think.

1. The egg appears to have the power to erase Watanuki's memories and thus make him forget about Yuuko herself. The egg's wielders, however, are still waiting for the opportune moment to use it.
2. A hundred years have passed already and the person Watanuki's conversing with is no other than Doumeki's great-grandson, who shares the same facial features as his ancestor (the same way Doumeki himself resembles his own grandfather, Shizuka). The original cast has already passed away.

Looks like I need to read it again. Damnit this ending sucks.

Not all of them zashiki warashi is a spirit so she still around. Besides it is not like death has stop Clamp before, just take look at Wish.

After reading the final chapter I have to admit that at the beginning I was disappointed. Nevertheless...

Now regarding the egg, from Doumeki's grandson speech, its actual purpose seems to be for erasing Watanuki's memories... But I find that a bit strange, particularly after....

Someone mentioned "Wish" and it made me think about the actual wish that Watanuki had, but it also made me think about the whole premise behind Wish and its relationship with xxxHolic

on another forum i saw an interesting theory concerning the final chapter. That the Rou arc could be nothing but a dream of Watanuki's. That time hasn't skipped but rather he has been having dreams of different time periods.

The reference to Yume Juuya, IMHO, only concerns the fact that Yuuko's dream was crafted more than a hundred years ago and that he is now revisiting it (like some sort of automated message)...as if it were time travel, both from HIS (he dreams of the past) and Yuuko's (she dreams into the future) POV.

I hardly ever post at Anime Suki, but i want people to see if my take on the ending is right, or there abouts-

Spoiler for Thoughts for the endings and the future of TsubaHoli:

A proper sequal to Cardcaptor Sakura may be in the works at some point. Watanuki is now willing to move about away from the shop, and may either join the cast of Tsubasa, or join the cast of CCS. Either way, this is a good thing as its progression from his stagnent storyline. Maru, Moro and the black Mokona are not at the shop, meaning that they too can move about, or their lives have come to an end. Either way, however you look at it, the story of the magical shop is over. All that matters is that an egg that Dōmeki's family tree is in possesion of, is ready to erase Watanuki's memory at some point, or do something else to him. Time is of no importance to the Tsubasa gang. The next time they visit the shop might be when Watanuki decides to join in their adventure. Who knows... for now.
The important points in Tsubasa are that the circle of repeating time that Sakura and Syaoran have been living through has ended. They are both named Tsubasa, and the souls of clone/young Sakura and clone/young Syaoran exist within themselves as feathers. Tsubasa (male) NEEDS to travel through different worlds because if he settles in one world, time and space will become distored. Watanuki NEEDS to stay in the shop for the same reason. But alas, Watanuki is slowing growing in a LOT of power, and even if he moves on from Yukos death, the part of him that will want to revive her will manifest itself as Fay Wong Reed, probably.
I have a feeling that the bodies of clone/young Syaoran and clone/young Sakura may exist somewhere in one of the worlds. Both male and female Tsubasa's will most probably choose to give their souls (feathers) back to their respective bodies, if they find them. The main perpose of the team traveling through different worlds is now to find a world where the clones can exist with both Tusbasa's. Im really hoping that the real Sakura and the real Syaoran from CCS will not turn out to be the missing clone bodys. Hopefully these characters will stay as seperate beings from other worlds (like so many of the other characters from the 1st half of the Tsubasa series that kept turning up).

More likely than not that's not gonna happen. CLAMP likes going for new series but with adding their older characters. They stopped xxxHolic because of their new manga GATE 7. Maybe the xxxHolic cast will appear there but it might be really minor.

Spoiler for From final chapter: After reading some things in this forum I've come to the conclusion that is actually a relatively good ending if Clamp is planning to use Watanuki as a side character for another story. I mean... He's probably the strongest mage in that world or probably in the whole Clamp multiverse, and now he is free to leave the shop. Now regarding the egg, from Doumeki's grandson speech, its actual purpose seems to be for erasing Watanuki's memories... But I find that a bit strange, particularly after.... Spoiler for Watanuki's Dream: If you pay attention to the dream, it is not only about him being able to leave the shop, it actually goes a bit beyond: The bird is certainly leaving his cage, but it's doing so to chase after the butterfly.
