Action was awesome this episode, reminds me of a titanic clash from some monster movie.

Oh well, Vurai bites the dust. One more episode to go....

If nothing else it was a pretty good clash. Having no game info, at least they made sure to give Oshutoru (I presume) a great last battle. Safe to presume he's basically dead on his feet. Although they didn't actually have him die as the ending to this episode which I was presuming with the whole "Nekone looking gravely at her brother." I presume that means he's not going to survive using everything he did.

Although not sure he needed to use that last bit of power if he was going to just doge the fist and stab him with a sword.

The twins were handy though they still don't have much in terms of character at this stage. Very useful sealing devices though.

This is what happens in the game:

And I admit it's pretty dissapointing what they have done with this episode.

Which one of the generals will use Vurai's mask?

Dekopopo? Raikou, or Washizu-guy?

This differences are only in details. Final and general storyline are the same. So it eon't affect the continuation.

Damn. S1 final had much bigger difference and they just ignored it.

Am I the only one to hear a contradiction between "To protect" and both transforming into a gigantic beast with AoE attacks?

And what happened to killing the survivor of the fight?

The fight is quite enjoyable by itself. Just shut off the brain for the destruction it brings. Saving Nekone from blames of fans might be a good move, but I suspect that is a bit too light for her the bear that sense of crime.

Character relationships and positioning are quite different from the game, and Anju's health condition is also different. Some of these difference can be compensated by adjustment in the next adaption, but that means the next anime will need to base on the result of this anime.

And there are changes that cannot be compensated, but not sure important or not. For example, if Anju is going to die between the end of this game and the start of next game, then her health won't matter.

i dont know why, but i really dont like the current series...
the difference between S1 dan S2 is too much...
no, its not story, but the female protagonist character, instead support the male, she join into battle and yes, SHE FIGHT..!!!
in S1, eruru always give hakuoro support instead having battle with enemy, and that's i like eruruu.

well, i hope S3 not too much screw badly.

The fighting was pretty epic enjoyed the clash of giants but in the city while they are suppose to protect was kind of ironic. Also, at least i got my answer as to why the Emperor gave Haku the twins they can seal the mask. Now i wonder how many people actual know that they have that power. Thats a pretty significant revelation because they can now render those mask useless taking away the OP power of the pillar generals. I also see why Emperor entrusted Haku with them hes the only one they can be entrusted to.

Call me weird or something, but I think this Kaijuu-fight really feels anemic. There’s a lot of things which are executed wrong in this fight from my perspective (aka. so many awkward things). First, we have the BGM that is too unenergetic for this kind of climactic battle which then stopped at random points that pretty much killed any momentum that the fight has built. Second, the fight itself is so slow and feels like turn-based fight where we have many instances where the characters just stopped their fight just to talk or wait for their opponent to talk or (the most insulting of it all) waiting to be attacked by the opposite party without doing much of anything. Like, Godzi-toru was mostly stood there to take some beatings from Godzi-rai. Like, seriously? He mostly just freakin’ stood there and tanking some fire attacks when he’s supposed to have water & ice-based attacks, but he barely did anything noteworthy to Godzi-rai with it. Such a waste of water & ice-based attacks. Heck, I’ve seen similar element-based pokemon fights which are much more intense and energetic than what I saw in this episode and none of them are giant-sized (and this fight is supposed to be one of the highlights of the series? ugh). Katara and Esdeath are disappointed in your way of fighting with water & ice, Oshutoru.

This kind of anemic feels does not only applied to the fight, but also for the entire episode in general that it pisses me off. The lackluster BGM that sounds like something out of straight-to-video B-grade fantasy movies does not help matters either. But I’ll be generous and rate it “average” because some instances of the animation do look very good (even though I was very tempted to click "below average" or “poor”).

Oshutoru was not in a good shape to fight he was tortured, his leg is injured and tired too, even in Akuruturuka form the damage on his demi-human body still effect the Akuruturuka performance in combat, while Vurai is just stood at the gate waiting for him :/.

and you can't expect everything to be perfect :/ every anime has their own mistake at some point :3 at adapting VN, LN, etc, and choice of music, ost, bgm etc.

I don't know anything about the source, and I don't expect perfection either. Just better-executed fight and episode. Like I said in my previous post, I've seen some Pokemon fights which are far better executed. Heck, the recent fight from Digimon Tri between Alphamon & Omegamon is a lot more intense and overall better than what we have here (and it's from goddamn Toei, the studio that is infamous for QUALITY). How can this supposedly climactic epic giant fight between two hyped generals being worse than Pokemon & Digimon fights is beyond me.

Well, I've never seen Pokemon, but I suppose Pokemon is quite action oriented given the genre. Action scenes have never been the strong point of this adaption, so perhaps it can never have that level of action.

But for the BGM, it's probably a problem of the BGM volume control. Because it's one of the most matching music for a final battle. The rhythm is intense, have a sense of large scale battle, and the melody matches the kind of mythology in the story. Actually it was the music for fighting Vurai in the game. So it's more likely the volume isn't enough to match the battle scale.

The point of my Pokemon comparison is the irony. Pokemon is an anime series for kids with its often simplistic Pokemon fights that feel like its game counterpart (turn-based). But at its best efforts (usually during final tournaments or so), the fights are intense, exciting and even (in limited cases) suspenseful thanks to good execution from using the right BGM, timing and constant momentum-building with the fights, and no long pauses where the fighters just standing to talk or wait for the other party to attack. That’s something the fight in this episode (both in human form and kaijuu form) failed to deliver to me. And it’s supposed to be one of the best fights in this supposedly epic-fantasy series (if not the best).

Volume control might be a problem. And I get that music-penchant is subjective, but there’s also some awkward BGM pausing/stopping during the fights which I think killed whatever momentum it has built.
