Kaori Yuki :: Godchild [and others]
Talk about Kaori Yuki's work here! [Especially Godchild, my newest addiction]
I've become a fan of Kaori Yuki's. Her artwork is so amazing! Sadly, Godchild is the only manga I own by KY. ;_; Does anyone know where to find The Cain Saga, Juliet, etc...? Oh and I heard that Godchild is a rather sad series. =( The ending's quite gloomy. Now I'm...even more eager to finish it XD

I'm a fan of Kaori Yuki. In fact, she's my fav mangaka^^. I have the complete Angel Sanctuary series(which, I think, is the best she's ever done9 and I have downloaded everything she's done.
i've read Count Cain up to vol 8, and I think it's the second best one(I love Cain sooo much!!).Ludwig Kakumei is my third fav, but it's veeeery disturbing(her art, of course, is as beautiful as ever).boys Next Door is the saddest, and had me crying for a weekend. Cruel Fairytales, Blood Hound, Neji, Fairy Cube, Gravel Kingdom..name it, I'll have read it sometime^^ I can't get ebnough of this woman's lyrical works

Ah, I love Kaori Yuki's work. <3 It's all so amazing!
Godchild/Count Cain is so incredibly addictive... I think it's my favorite of her manga, closely followed by Boys Next Door and Angel Sanctuary. ^o^ And, yes... the ending is quite gloomy. I cried when I read vol.8. ![]() I understand that VIZ is planning to put out the first part of the Cain saga sometime in the near future. (I don't know why they didn't put it out BEFORE Godchild, though... that would have been a smart move. People'd catch the references to previous arcs that way.) |

I have AS, at least the Chinese translation.
In terms of story-telling, she's on my list, along with CLAMP. Her stories will convince anyone that Man has darkness within him. Or those who supposedly are the good ones were really the wretched ones. I haven't read the rest of her works. I don't want my head to hurt too much. If you like your stories twisted and dark, but still have hope in them, she's the lady to go to.

I've been reading Cain and Godchild, but I had to stop after a certain shocking turning point in Godchild vol 6. I plan to finish reading sometime, but I had to take a break. It certainly is dark, and the mangaka pulls no punches.
Spoiler for Emmeline:
I love the artwork -- the detailed clothes, the settings, adorable Merry, scrumptious Cain. But it is at characterization that Kaori Yuki shines above all. Even the villains are so well-drawn, you often have to sympathize with them. Jezebel is such a fabulous character, and what he did to one of the other villains was stunning -- and well-deserved. I'd say the mangaka has me on the edge of my seat, except sometimes it gets so exciting I have to stand up! I love the reluctant ally Crehador, Oscar, Merry, Riff, and of course Cain. I am surprised that this excellent series was never animated. |

I loved Godchild & the Cain Saga♥ I cried at the ending...Her art style is so different in her more known works than the Cain Saga (then again, that style was popular back when she started drawing for the Cain Saga).
I bought Godchild at Borders before they closed, as well as the first two of the Cain Saga, the last 3 (vol.4 is in two parts) I found at YOUMACON. I finally finished the Grand Guignol Orchestra! I can't find Fairy Cube vol.3 I've not finished Angel Sanctuary either...I loved the story line throughout the entire Cain series, &I admit I prefer the drawing style in Godchild (mainly because Cain actually looks 17, instead of 27ish-er, in my oppinion that's how old that style made him look)... I'm sad this is not an anime, but perhaps one day they will make an anime adaption-that would be nice anyway. ^_^ The whole story was just amazing, though I feel it ended too quickly...It made me rather sad, but I think she ended it properly, though I felt there was one last piece left hanging for one's imagination~ (but much less so than in Naoki Urasawa's Monster, which was also a very nicely done story &it is also an anime)
