Going by the translated chapter titles in the novel translation project, the baseball game is first there too.

Well, I usually judge something like this

I wait for it to finish, then start with 10 and subtract. Obviously if I enjoyed the episode, I might disregard what I consider minor annoyances and still give it a 10, as most Haruhi and F/SN episodes. If however there is something that damages my episode enjoyment more than just a minor annoyance, I subtract points accordingly. Obviousy, if there is some sort of redeeming occurence, I add points, so it might still get a 10 despite everything. I know, I'm lenient but that's me And since I enjoyed this episode (well, I was a little set off by that "mouse view", but it was short and I didn't actually mind that much, so I let it drop.) Knowing that, you should take into account that a 6 is too low for me for an episode, although F/SN ep 15 and 18 managed to get a 6 from me.

The storm that came out of nowhere... since they said it didn't say anything about it on the weather forecast, could it be the powers of the 'esper' that we all know bout ^_^

I'd be more inclined to believe it was Haruhi's doing. After all, like Itsuki said, she wanted to play detective, and that storm creates the ideal environment for a mystery. Of course, it's also possible the storm was just a freak typhoon that formed naturally...

and thats the whole thing... is Haruhi actually manipulating anything unconsciously? or is she just off the meter on the wish scale? ... is there a difference?
How would Haruhi react to the Total Perspective Vortex? (HHGTTG reference).

So to recompile this sixth episode thread theories to this episode and to the next (No, I don't know what is really going to happen next), we have:

Spoiler:

...well, maybe mostly my theories anyway. Around 99% ... though I could be over reaching. Yes, yes... thats it. ... ...but that last part I'd pulled out of my ass. Shock value folks, shock value.

I considered that Haruhi might subconsciously be creating the desired setting for this event, but personally my guess is that it's the work of the ESP agency. I think several if not all other people on the island are also members of this agency and the whole thing is set up by them. Including the typhoon.

The typhoon seems more like an act of god *cough* than something a bunch of people with supernatural powers can pull off. Maybe it was something they anticipated would happen, given circumstances.

Well, even if there is no typhoon, there is no need for a storm; In murder mysteries, you just need the radio equipment and the boats sabotaged in order for a closed circle. You can just blame it on the murderer.

If anything, should Itsuki have planned this, he could have ochestrated the entire scenario. But he can't tell how Haruhi could alter the script at any time; which she apparently did.

In the baseball game Yuki didn't want to make it rain because it would provoke environment ploblems. And now you're saying she would do a typhoon?

Maybe Itsuki just checked out the weather forecasts beforehand, and planned the trip to coincide with the typhoon? I don't think Koizumi's group is able to manipulate weather. The only other option is that haruhi did it subconsciously XD

I second that. I think they mentioned that the forecast didn't say anything about a storm, so the first thing that came to mind is that Haruhi wished for it. Well, it would have been a bit terrifying if Haruhi subconsciously wished for murders to start occuring But that would turn the series into some sort of Higurashi-type show

...and Itsuki with some foreknowledge arranged them to be in that island at the right time, right before the typhoon? I like it.
