Need Help on Improving Vid

To make it short:
1)Is it possible to convert a DAT. file to avi?
2)Or is there anyway to improve a vid whose quality sucks, but playable.

What actually happened(long): burnt 3 episodes of Green Green TV (anime, all of em are in AVI format b4 burnin) into an empty disc. they're then converted to DAT. format. Completed burnin, tested the quality of the vids of the CD and noticed that they sucked, real bad. playable, but quality ..... gosh.

You guys can answer yes/no for Qn1 & 2....
I would gladly appreciate for your reply and try giving some tips... ^_^

1- Yes. Use VirtualDub (or VDMod, not sure which one exactly)
2- umm... (You probably could, but I think that would take a lot of work, I wouldn't know how to do it though)

DAT files are VCD files, they're designed to be played on TV and not on the computer. If you have a DVD player that can play AVI files, then there's no point in converting them, just burn them in a data disc instead.

Oic.
So the purpose of DAT. is for TV. Yeah, my DVD player can read AVIs..
Actually, i just wanna store these vids on a CD so that i can watch em anytime on my comp.
I'll try VirtualDub since DAT. files can be converted to AVI.
thanks, dude.

Im using Nero currently. If I burn these vids in a Data Disc instead of Video Disc, is it possible that the format won't change?

Yes, burning as a data disk will leave them in .avi format.

You can make a VCD with it. DAT files are usually just encapsulated MPEG-1 files and are used for VCDs.
