Every console gets its share of criticism, but this is one move that Sony should be credited for: no region codes for PS3 games.

Of course, one wonders if this will even reach our shores in this side of the world, but judging by Eternal Sonata it would seem likely. But how will this announcement affect sales for the PS3 in Japan after a year (?) in the 360? Will the PS3 see an increase in sales as well?

More importantly, is this an April Fool's joke?

EDIT: No, it's legit.

Syberia 3 on PC and PS3 next year

Syberia 3, the new episode in the adventures of Kate Walker, actually allows those playing on PC and those playing on PS3 to collaborate online, thanks to a simultaneous data exchange and sharing mode on the two platforms. Syberia 3 will therefore see teams of players being formed so as to optimize their chances of reaching the end of the adventure by pooling the abilities of each of the participants. Only PS3 players who have collaborated with PC players, and vice versa, will be able to accompany Kate to the end of the adventure.

any idea about this ?

It's fucking bullshit though that it's region coded, since most games aren't. >_>

Well to be honest most 360 exclusives are timed exclusives, next to Halo, Gears and the mystwalker games. Not sure about the other real exclusives.

The vesperia announcement is the best news in a long time for me . It was probably the only game i would have bought the 360 for.

Mwreh, that's subject to opinion. Lost Odyssey was good, but I personally didn't find it the best. Valkyria Chronicles holds that title for me at the moment.

And also the main reason I prefer to play my games on the PS3, despite owning both systems. At least that way I don't have to wait a year to be able to play them.

I personally don't get what all the buzz is about Tales of Vesperia. I played it on 360 and found it incredibly boring. I traded it in before I really got anywhere in the game, but I had felt like I played for a considerable amount of time, and the main story hadn't even really begun yet. Way too much time is spent chasing after the friend of the main character. I never finished that part of the game, but after playing the game I had no intention of ever finishing it. Its just far too boring and dull.

Which is why a title of 'best RPG' is subject to opinion. I haven't played it either, so I can't form an opinion of the story, but what attracts me to Vesperia is mainly the art style. Cell-shaded anime style was what made Symphonia so enjoyable for me, and Vesperia cranks it up a notch and blurs the line between anime and game even more.

Well I thought it was pretty obvious that it was an opinion. I don't really need to say imo. Every time I write a line no? Well comparing ToV to LO. Is like comparing Tales of Destiny to Final Fantasy 7. If you like the tales the series over the the Final Fantasy series. I'm sure you'd like ToV more then LO, but it also works vice versa.

I hate the fact that people look over LO simply, because it's on the 360. It's easily one of the best stories you can find in RPG's and the 1000 years dream feature makes it close to the best. The characters are likable, cinematics are top notch, the gameplay is standard as hell, but it's solid. The game pretty much showed you can make a great game even though you don't innovate in the game play department. Sure it's not enough to buy a 360 over, but if you got a friend with the game definitely try it out.

Pretty much all the recent tales games weren't that good, the games where nice, but that's pretty much it. Can't say there was a "great" tales game since the psx era tbh.

I own the game, so I can safely say I didn't gloss over it. I still don't really think it's one of the best RPG's on the consoles though. Graphic-wise, the game is gorgeous. I prefer cell-shading, but the graphics are gorgeous. Story-wise though... that's where opinion comes in. I didn't really find the story in Lost Odyssey all that gripping. I can't exactly put the finger on what it is, but it just... washed right past me.

I should also note that I don't really care if a game is 360 exclusive, or appears on the 360 first. However, being that I live in Europe, with RPG's that usually means that I'll have to wait half a year before I'm able to play the game, as there seems to be this completely mysterious habit to put region locks on the games I like to play.

That is the sole reason I prefer PS3 versions over 360. A PS3 version means I'll be able to play the game when it comes out, not when the European market decides it's time to release it. If a game appears on the European market, I don't really care which console it is. Whatever version comes here first, I'll buy. If it hasn't, I'll go for the PS3 version without a single shred of doubt.

I can only guess that you didn't like the snes/psx Final Fantasy's either, since it was pretty much on that level. Most critics and normal player consider it more of a final fantasy then FF12.

I have no idea if this rant is aimed at me, but if it is. I go for the fastest release as well, but that's obvious no? Not that it happens much though, actually never really. Most of the time the good multiplat games come out at the same time. >_>

True. I played every Final Fantasy from V and on, but the only ones I genuinely liked were VI and X. I've never been one to get swept up in the Final Fantasy hype.

's mostly the reason I mock the 360 at times. I really don't care about pixels, screensize or which one can squeeze out the best framerate and whatnot that keeps the fanboys yelling at eachother. I just want to play my games. I don't care that Mass Effect is 360 exclusive. I don't care that Valkyria Chronicles is PS3 exclusive. I just want to play them, and won't mock a console if they lose an exclusive, simply because I don't care.

If a console keeps me from that one single wish though, I won't be quiet about it.

Here's something very interesting I've picked up from a corner of the web.

It seems that a certain Tri Ace RPG for the 360, which had some resolution problem and bugs, is originally programmed for the PS3 and ported to the 360 at the last moment. Which naturally leads to the game being problematic on the platform it was released on.

Now, I guess most people would have heard about Tri Ace is slated to release a RPG for the PS3, there's a high chance that it will be the afored mentioned game and the official announcement will be published in the next few issue of Famitsu, sometime around the 10th or so.
